Check out this incredibly realistic statue of Heath Ledger’s Joker from The Dark Knight. Amazingly, this was not made with a cast of Heath Ledger’s real face – it was created by photo references only. Even more amazing, it was not done by a professional. The artist Bobby Causey is an actor primarily, and does this sculpting work in his spare time for his own enjoyment. DC has been criticized for its movie lineup, but it’s really redeeming itself with its TV show, DC Nation. A series of short films inspired by its superhero lineup, they are often funny and amazing. One particularly impressive short is “The Bat Man of Shanghai.” Japanese animation studio Wolfsmoke created this anime kung-fu styled interpretation of Batman. I’m a huge fan of the BBCs Walking with Dinosaurs series. Its combination of live animatronics, CGI, and real environments really combine to bring dinosaurs to life. Well, it turns out that they turned the mini-series into Walking With Dinosaurs: The Arena Spectacular, a live stage show featuring animatronic dinosaurs on stage. To promote the show, they’ve taken the dinosaurs out onto the road to spectacular results. Other than the obvious human legs showing, the effect is amazing. A user on Reddit calling himself megor posted pics of the ring he got his wife for her 30th anniversary. Turns out she’s a big Doctor Who fan, so he got her a TARDIS ring inside a TARDIS box. We don’t normally feature individual artists on Geek Twins, but David Rapoza is going to have to be an exception. It started with a featured post on Reddit with Rapoza’s portrait of April O’Neal. It’s not like there haven’t been Batman fan films out there, but this new one called “Puppet Master” that surfaced last week is one of the best I’ve ever seen.
