Trailer Wars Round 2: ‘The Dark Knight Rises’ (2012) vs. ‘Looper’ (2012) [Poll]

Joseph Gordon-Levitt (Looper) Chrisian Bale (The Dark Knight Rises)

Trailer Wars: The Dark Knight Rises vs Looper

It’s the battle of the trailers! There have been some amazing trailers this year, but which is the best?

Last week we had a battle between two epic trailers: The Dark Knight Rises vs The Amazing Spider-Man. It was an epic battle, since both are exciting movies and the voting was close. In the end, The Dark Knight won.

The winner is up against the next trailer. This week, I thought we’d try a different type of movie. Instead of two comic book movies, I’m pitting The Dark Knight Rises against the sci-fi thriller Looper starring Third Rock From the Sun star Joseph Gordon-Levitt.

It’s Batman vs. Tommy. Round Two! Fight!

    The Dark Knight Rises (2012)

Synopsis: Every hero has a journey. Every journey has an end. Christopher Nolan returns to complete the epic Gotham trilogy that launched with Batman Begins and reached the stratosphere with the billion-dollar blockbuster The Dark Knight. Inception’s Marion Cotillard and Joseph Gordon-Levett join the cast regulars along with Anne Hathaway as Selina Kyle and Tom Hardy as the powerful villain Bane, while Oscar winner Christian Bale prowls the night as the Caped Crusader, fighting crime and corruption with the help of Michael Cane, Morgan Freeman and Gary Oldman.

US Release Date: July 3, 2012

The Dark Knight Rises (2012) International Trailer #3

    VS.

    Looper (2012)

Synopsis: Time travel will be invented, but it will be illegal and only available on the black market. When the mob wants to get rid of someone, they send their target 30 years into the past, where a “looper”—a hired gun, like Joe (Joseph Gordon-Levitt)—is waiting to mop up. Joe is getting rich and life is good. . . until the day the mob decides to “close the loop,” sending back Joe’s future self (Bruce Willis) for assassination. The film is written and directed by Rian Johnson and also stars Emily Blunt, Paul Dano, and Jeff Daniels. Ram Bergman and James D. Stern produce.

US Release Date: September 28th, 2012

     Looper (2012) International Trailer #1

Which one if better? Is there anything you feel stands out in one versus the other? Which one are you more likely to see?

This one is very difficult. These are both films I'd like to see. Time travel is my favorite genre so Looper definitely catches my eye and has a very intriguing concept. But as far as trailers go I'd have to go with Dark Knight Rises with the cooler effects and darker tone. Gotta see them both though.

I still think Dark Knight, though I didn't vote last time and I should have. Dark Knight Rises is going to crush Spider-man. Looper is going to be fantastic, though I do see how Dark Knight Rises has more of an overall appeal to the masses and not just superhero/sci fi fans.

Hey, I gave Geek Twins a shout and an award over on my blog, Melissa's Imaginarium. You run a kick ass site here.

Looper does not intrigue me… it looks like 12 Monkeys meets Wanted meets Inception…. I will stick with Dark Knight.

Jeremy, those the movies together would be pretty cool.

Arlee, I love a good mind bending time travel story myself. One for Dark Knight.

Thanks Melissa! You make a good point about Dark Knight. It has mass appeal now.
