In the classic Star Trek episode “Mirror, Mirror,” Uhura set a lot of Trekkers’ hearts pounding when she wore a somewhat less-than-standard uniform. Jeffrey Moy (colored by GroovyGoddess) at DeviantArt created a very nice rendition of her. It’s not totally accurate to what she looked like, but it’s what our young minds imagined she looked like, and what she might have looked like with looser restrictions. And it’s definitely what Nichelle Nichols wished she looked like… How hot does Uhura look in this pic? Or is the real “Mirror, Mirror” Uhura the hotter version? The comments box wants to know……

The 1977 Star Wars Toyota Celica is one of the most sought-after cars in the world, and almost everything about it is a mystery. Actual pictures of it are scarce, and there isn’t even a record of the VIN number. The car was a prize in a contest in 1977, and hasn’t been seen since it was awarded to a lucky winner whose identity remains a mystery. But you can help find it. The year was 1977, just a few months after the premiere of Star Wars, and Twentieth Century Fox partnered with Wonderbread to sponsor a contest called the…

As part of the new DC Universe reboot, another attempt is being made to revamp Aquaman as a viable hero. The last attempt had Aquaman look tougher with a beard and a hook hand, but this one returns him to the same blonde orange-shirted hero that we remember. This time, the first issue embraces the fact that Aquaman is the “talks-to-fish” superhero that everyone looks down on, and makes him an underdog. In a funny scene, Aquaman emphasizes that he doesn’t talk to fish, because they have no language, but that he can command and control them. The first issue…

We all love General Zod from Superman II. Ruthless, arrogant, elegant, and awesomely powerful. But he wasn’t always a general. At some point, Zod had to be a fresh recruit, just starting out in the Kryptonian military. So once again, we present the continuing story of “I, Zod: The Journal of Private Zod.” For parts 1-3, click here. 6 Gree, 341 KC Shortly after we arrived at the barracks, a high-ranking officer with an imposing figure entered the room. The lines glowing on the shoulder of his robe informed me that he was a sergeant. He introduced himself as Sergeant…

Are you sick of overused Internet memes? Tired of cats with poor spelling, angry faces, and cartoons saying “firin’ ma laser?” No? Then you probably won’t find this funny. Kurt Russell as Han Solo in Star Wars. No, this isn’t a Kevin Spacey impression or a prank. Kurt Russell auditioned for the original role of Han Solo, and YouTube has the tape. Surprisingly, it’s not bad. He’s actually pretty good. Obviously, Harrison Ford put a lot of himself into the character, so it’s hard to imagine Solo as anyone else. At the same time, Russell has a roguish style that works as well. What do you think of Kurt Russell’s performance? Did we dodge a bullet getting Harrison Ford or could Russell have pulled it off? One of my favorite Futurama episodes was about Fry getting an EyePhone (get it?) that allowed him to walk around watching the Internet on a screen projected into the air in front of him. Surprisingly enough, this technology could really happen. Sort of. Instead of being hilariously and painfully jammed into our eye sockets, we can just slip on a pair of contact lenses with LEDs printed onto their surface. Scientists at the University of Washington are working on embedding miniaturized blue, green, and red lights onto the surface of contact lenses. Once that happens, they’ll be able to connect…

This week, we pay tribute to another beautiful actress who’s captured the hearts of geeks everywhere, Rosario Dawson. Dawson was born on May 9, 1979 in New York City. She owes her exotic looks to her multi-racial background with a Puerto Rican/Cuban mother and an Irish father. Dawson’s acting career started with a cliche – she was spotted sitting on her front porch at the age of sixteen, and was literally asked if she wanted to be in a movie. That movie ended up the controversial Kids (1995). It wasn’t until 2002 that she entered the geek radar with her…

We admit the Nyan Cat fad has gotten out of hand. Seems like you can’t turn around on the Web without running into a rainbow-spewing cat with a Pop Tart body. But every now and then, someone does something that breathes new life into the meme. This is one of them. Behold the Nyan Cat-Deemer. It’s basically a mod for Unreal Tournament 3 (created by Azurescorch, Bi()ha2ard and Cr4zy) that replaces the ultra-powerful remote-controlled Redeemer missile with a Nyan Cat. And yes, it does stream rainbows, and it does play the song. To me, the funniest part about this is…

It’s hard to remember now, but George Lucas isn’t the first director to get fans upset by digitally altering his movies. Remember the uproar over Steven Spielberg replacing the guns in E.T. with walkie-talkies? Yeah, seems kind of quaint now. The good news is that Spielberg has learned the error of his ways. At a recent screening of Raiders of the Lost Ark, Spielberg publicly stated that he regrets making the changes… Not because of fan outrage, but simply because I was disappointed in myself. I was overly sensitive to some of the criticism E.T. got from parent groups when…

If there’s one thing movies have taught us, it’s that no good ever comes from videogames. There are usually only two kinds of videogames in movies. The first and most common is the vaguely defined and often violent videogame, shown briefly to drive home the point that the character is out of touch with reality. It’s usually played by a slack-jawed loser living in his parents’ basement or a bratty kid ignoring his parents or whatever else is going on around them. The other kind of videogame in movies is the one that’s literally a gateway to evil. Here’s an…
