1. Cyborg #1
- Publisher: DC Comics
- Writer: Morgan Hampton
- Artist: Tom Raney
- Cover Artist: Edwin Galmon
- Official Summary: INNER CITY BLUES – When a family emergency brings Cyborg back home to Detroit, Victor Stone surprisingly finds himself enjoying returning to the simpler life–where everybody sees him for who he really is and always was, rather than a larger-than-life superhero. It’s been a while since Vic’s been able to lower his guard and seek a purpose outside of being Cyborg 24/7. But a lot has changed in Detroit while Victor’s been away. An aggressive new company is turning the Motor City into an overclocked engine for revolutionary artificial intelligence…and no one knows better than Cyborg that technological transformation always comes at a steep human price!
- Review: Cyborg #1 is a great example of pushing characters in new directions and a great mission statement for “Dawn of DC”. It gives us great moments of Cyborg in action but also great moments of drama. The book shows why Victor Stone is one of the most interesting and unique characters in the DC Universe. The themes of father-son conflict and gentrification make themselves felt early on, and I can’t wait to see how Cyborg handles both the neighborhood and family struggles. Overall, the first installment of the series is promising.

2. Superman #4
- Publisher: DC Comics
- Writer: Joshua Williamson
- Artist: Nick Dragotta & Jamal Campbell
- Cover Artist: Jamal Campbell
- Official Summary: CHAPTER FOUR: SCREAMS FROM THE PAST – Introducing the Kryptonite Klaw! Superman is vulnerable to Kryptonite, but what happens when other dangerous superhumans are exposed to it? If Superman wants to stop Metropolis’s newest enemies, he must uncover Lex Luthor’s secret past!
- Review: Superman #4 is a five-star edition for Team Superman, led by stunning visuals by Jamal Campbell and author Ariana Maher. Screenwriter Joshua Williamson reveals the book’s greatest villains without sacrificing the intriguing aura of mystery that surrounds them. The Silver Banshee is the ultimate recipient of her powers, and her powers are brought to life in a visually creative way. Artist Nick Dragotta and colorist Frank Martin work well with Campbell’s work, and also adds his style. Superman is still going strong and is hands down one of DC’s best and brightest heroes. As the issue progresses the story gets better and the last minute twist is incredible. Combine a great story with great graphics and this edition is a winner.

3. X-Men #22
- Publisher: Marvel Comics
- Writer: Gerry Duggan
- Artist: Joshua Cassara
- Cover Artist: Joshua Cassara
- Official Summary: BRING ON THE BAD GUYS ORCHIS RISING! – Mutantkind may be stronger than ever, but that just makes their enemies more determined than ever to tear them down. Orchis’ plans are in motion, preparing for the fall…
- Review: X-Men #22 is an interesting step on the road to the upcoming “Fal of X”. It establishes storylines while offering a single satisfying story within the bigger picture. However, this is mostly a setup and the reading is rather empty for monthly readers. Dean White remains Joshua Cassara’s top colorist, but Marte Gracia isn’t a bad substitute, bringing the X-Men’s trademark Kraconia touch to the book. The problem is competently solved, but by and large it seems that it is waiting for the beginning of the next story.

4. Batman / Superman: World’s Finest #15
- Publisher: DC Comics
- Writer: Mark Waid
- Artist: Dan Mora
- Cover Artist: Dan Mora
- Official Summary: ELEMENTARY, CHAPTER THREE: ULTRAMORPHO – The rise of Ultra-Morpho! Years ago, Professor Anthony Ivo built Amazo, a killer android who could duplicate the powers of the Justice League. But now an even deadlier android stalks the DC Universe: Ultra-Morpho! Able to transform into any element, including Kryptonite, Ultra-Morpho can kill Batman, Superman, Robin, and Metamorpho in one fell swoop! But who created him? Who does he work for? And what has he done to Will Magnus, inventor of the Metal Men?!
- Review: Waid, Mora and Bonvillain deliver strong sequential storytelling in Batman/Superman: World’s Finest #15. Waid’s script is well-paced and has strong characterization, with Dick Grayson being a highlight. The series as a whole continues to be a versatile book for all readers, with the Simon Stagg murder mystery becoming a world-ending robot revolution without a single hero strong enough to stop it. The art is perfect and the pacing is lightning quick almost to a fault.

5. She-Hulk #13
- Publisher: Marvel Comics

- Cover Artist: Jen Bartel
- Official Summary: She-Hulk’s new villain makes a big move that throws Jen for the loop of her life. Plus, Patsy Walker, also known as Hellcat, returns to help Jen set everything straight.LEGACY #176
- Review: She-Hulk #13 shows a strength that transcend the superhero genre, emphasizing its romance and drama. She-Hulk has many dates ranging from friendly to strained to romantic, offering plenty of drama and suspense without the need for beatdowns. Rowell has a knack for conjuring distinctive dynamics, and Andrés Genolet and Joe Quinones’ expressions ensure they’re humorous and emotional. As the inevitable battles await, the creative team builds them up with solid character work and a careful like pace to keep them strong. She-Hulk is getting stronger than ever. While some complain it’s too slow it’s refreshing to see.

6. Miles Morales: Spider-Man #6
- Publisher: Marvel Comics
- Writer: Cody Ziglar
- Artist: Federico Vicentini
- Cover Artist: Dike Ruan & Alejandro Sánchez
- Official Summary: CARNAGE REIGNS, PART 2No matter what MILES MORALES throws at CLETUS KASADY, the Extrembiote-powered monstrosity just keeps coming. And Cletus is only getting stronger. But how? Spider-Man needs help. A distraction, a second to breathe. Anything, or anyone, to give him a chance—any chance—at slowing Cletus down. But Miles can’t rest. Help isn’t coming. He’s the only thing standing between New York City and maximum carnage…and if the heroes aren’t answering Miles’ calls…who’s left on Spidey’s speed dial? LEGACY #288
- Review: Miles Morales and Scorpion become unlikely partners in the second chapter of “Carnage Reigns”. There are guest-stars to help them deal with Cletus Kasady, and the book is allowed to remain a smaller story with true weight for the characters. It works as both the next chapter in Miles’ story and a story with the effort of an event.

7. Captain America: Sentinel of Liberty #12

- Review: Captain America: Sentinel of Liberty is one of the best action events of the summer. While the internal conflict is lacking the rest of the comic is mind-blowing. It features excellent writing, art, and letters from the creative team of Collin Kelly, Jackson Lanzings, Alina Erofeeva, Nolan Woodards, and Joe Caramagna.

But when TERMINUS attacks, a new and insidious danger rears its head: one that the Avengers know all too well, and one that comes to them in the most dangerous of guises—that of a friend.
- Review: The Avengers #1 is the first installment in the revived series and a great start for the new creative team. It portrays the team as Earth’s Mightiest Heroes and foreshadows a larger plot centered around Kang the Conqueror. Jed MacKay and CF. Providing a much-needed reboot with a fresh start for the revived series, Villa aims to showcase the team as the world’s mightiest heroes. Announcing a bigger story centered around Kang the Conqueror is a great start for the new creative team.

9. X-Force #40
- Publisher: Marvel Comics
- Writer: Benjamin Percy
- Artist: Paul Davidson & Robert Gill
- Cover Artist: Dean White & Joshua Cassara
- Official Summary:
- Review: X-Force #40 is a compelling look at how far Beast will go to win and how the ragtag crew of the X-Force can solve problems on the fly. There is a resolution to the issue, but it is a little too easy. A great X-Force #40 is a compelling look at how far Beast will go to win and how the ragtag crew of the X-Force can solve problems on the fly. It does so in the most entertaining fashion imaginable, with “The Ghost Calendars” pulling X-Force’s revived roster into a dystopian future dominated by Beast’s ongoing schemes while revealing what Quentin Quire has been up to since his disappearance. The resulting adventure plays out in a familiar fashion, but the new nasty monster designs and blasted landscape make it an enjoyable set of action sequences. The upcoming chapters promise to set the stakes for that inevitable showdown with Beast.

10. The Flash #799
- Publisher: DC Comics
- Writer: Jeremy Adams
- Artist: Tom Derenick
- Cover Artist: Taurin Clarke
- Official Summary: ASSAULT ON ETERNITYUncovering the truth about what happened to their third child, Wally and team must infiltrate the dangerous compound known as the Nest in hopes of saving their newborn, while battling the formidable Granny Goodness!
- Review: This issue of The Flash was a great introduction to the next month’s mega-sized finale. Adams’ subtle humor exchanges, family motifs, and action make for a fun issue, but there is still a lot of meat left on the bone. Adams deserves to tell the full story, and the side adventures we missed from Wally should not be undertaken by anyone other than him. This is a great issue for Adams fans and Wally fans alike.
