Watch the first trailer for the new science fiction thriller film Annihilation starring Natalie Portman and directed and written by Ex Machina’s Alex Garland based on the book of the same name by Jeff VanderMeer.
The movie also stars amazing actors including Tessa Thompson from Thor: Ragnarok, Michelle Rodriguez from Avatar and Oscar Isaac from Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Portman plays a biologist who signs up for a dangerous, secret expedition where the laws of nature don’t apply.
It’s hard to describe this movie with its shimmering colors, pounding music and terrifying visuals. Kind of like Arrival meets Avatar.
The is about an all-female search party played by Portman as Lena the Biologist, Rodriguez as Anya Thorensen the Anthropologist, Thompson as the Surveyor, and Leigh as the Psychologist, and Tuva Novotny as the Linguist as they go on an expedition into an extraterrestrial territory known as Area X that’s been cut off from the rest of the world by the military. The endeavor is labeled a “suicide mission,” but Portman goes in hope of finding her lost husband played by Oscar Isaac. The story is told in the past tense after she returns.
“Can you describe it’s form?” says a scientist wearing a hazmat suit. “No”, Portman says. “Did it communicate with you?” a voice asks. “It reacted to me,” she says while lights glow over her head.
Here’s the first photo from the film released.

I did really like Ex Machina so I'll probably have to check it out.
Freaky little trailer. I also like Ex Machina, so curious to see it.
That had a creepy fun vibe to it.
