Poll: What’s The Most Quotable Geek Movie Of All Time? – UPDATE [Poll]

    “I’m Batman.”

    “I’ll be back.”

    “Klaatu barada nikto”

    “I’m sorry, Dave. I’m afraid I can’t do that.”

There are some movie quotes that have reached a mythical status. Transcending the movie itself they reach the collective consciousness. They become part of society’s language.

But, is there one superhero or science-fiction film that you quote from more than others?

I tend to quote from Star Trek movies, but who hasn’t said Star Wars famous line, “May the force be with you”? Uncle Ben from Spider-Man touched our hearts with, “With great power comes great responsibility.”

This week’s poll asks: What is the most quotable science fiction or superhero movie ever?

I put a poll in this week’s post to back it easier to vote. If you don’t feel like commenting or want to vote on a movie I haven’t listed use the poll below.

Update: Just as an FYI, I had to remove one of entries to avoid confusion, but I’ll start adding the “Other” options as they come in so we can all vote on them. Great suggestions. Keep them coming!

    • “Normally I would have suggested The Matrix and “I know Kung Fu”, but recently I’ve found myself quoting Jean Luc Picard/Sheldon and that infamous quote “The line must be drawn here! This far, no further!” – TheReluctantGeek

“I wrote in The Empire Strikes back because pretty much once a week when I’m stuck in traffic I’ll say, “Would it help if I got out and pushed?” The other one I use a lot is, “Well I’m glad you’re here to tell us these things!” And of course Yoda’s, “Do or do not, there is no try.”” – Pat Dilloway

  • “All these are quotable. My Dad is especially good at doing Klingon quotes in Klingon voices. 😀 Monty Python and the Holy Grail is one my entire high school could quote word for word (really not exaggering!), but in the pole I went for Back to the Future because pretty much every line in that entire film has been quoted multiple times! 😀 Great question!” – Liesel HIll
  • “I wrote in Monty Python and the Holy Grail – what geek doesn’t know that one by heart and quote it all the time?” – Alex J. Cavanaugh
  • “I use quotes from Star Trek a lot. But who hasn’t said, Luke I’m your father? My favorite quotes come from Galaxy Quest.” – MPax
  • “Army of Darkness. Who doesn’t want to be Bruce Campbell? “This is my boomstick!” “Groovy” “Hail to the King, baby!” Bruce is so awesome that Duke Nukem rips off his best lines!” – He Geek She Geek
  • As always, with the weekly polls, I’ll update this post next week with the best comments.

So, is there a movie that you quote more than others? Which is the best?

I wrote in The Empire Strikes back because pretty much once a week when I'm stuck in traffic I'll say, "Would it help if I got out and pushed?" The other one I use a lot is, "Well I'm glad you're here to tell us these things!" And of course Yoda's, "Do or do not, there is no try."

Now I know this isn't sci fi but it is one of the best quotes of all time (For me). Scarface "Say hello to my little friend". Again not sci fi but still awesome!

    3. Anthony G. Laplume on August 16, 2012 3:43 pm

      I voted that same way.

If you put in an "Other" vote you may want to try voting again.
