The Star Wars Black Series Mae (Assassin) is one of the first figures released from Star Wars: The Acolyte, and Hasbro did a lot of things right. The sculpt is excellent, the likeness to the actress is surprisingly good, and the accessories give collectors a couple of different display options. However, it isn’t perfect. Articulation is somewhat limited, and a few accessories can test your patience. So, is this Black Series figure worth adding to your collection? If you’re interested in buying one, I’ll share a link below.
Let’s take a closer look.
First, you can watch the video below
Packaging
The packaging follows the standard premium Star Wars Black Series design. The front has the familiar window display, while the side features some great character artwork of Mae holding one of her throwing knives. Around the back, you’ll find the same artwork along with a short biography printed in several languages. This is figure #3 in The Acolyte Black Series lineup.
One feature I really like is the extended display window that wraps around the side of the box. If you’re someone who likes keeping figures mint in the package, you’ll still get a nice view of the figure from multiple angles. It’s a small detail, but it makes for a better display.
What’s in the Box?
Hasbro includes just enough accessories to make the figure feel complete.
Inside the package you’ll find:
- Mae (Assassin) figure
- Removable hooded cape
- Alternate face-covering scarf
- Four throwing knives
The accessories are packaged securely, although those knives are incredibly small. In fact, while I was opening the figure, one of them immediately fell onto the floor. If you’re opening this over carpet, good luck finding it.
Sculpt and Paint
The sculpt is easily the best part of this figure.
Hasbro did a really nice job capturing the actress’s likeness. The face sculpt looks accurate, the hair has excellent texture, and the costume features plenty of detail. The armor has a textured finish that gives it the appearance of worn leather instead of smooth plastic.
The removable hood is made from softer plastic, allowing it to drape naturally over the shoulders without looking stiff. Combined with the layered costume, Mae has an imposing look that really stands out on the shelf.
If you’re buying this figure primarily for display, you won’t be disappointed.
Articulation
This is where things become a little more mixed.
Mae has articulation in all the usual places. The head moves well, and the shoulders, elbows, and wrists all articulate normally. Unfortunately, the costume limits how much you can actually use those joints.
The shoulders don’t move outward very far, the waist only rotates slightly, and while the hips technically have a decent range of motion, the layered costume prevents many dynamic poses. The knees and ankles work well enough, but overall this isn’t a figure designed for extreme action poses.
There are roughly a dozen points of articulation, which isn’t bad, but it certainly could have been better.
Accessories
Hasbro included a clever alternative to a second head sculpt.
Instead of swapping heads, you remove Mae’s head and install a separate scarf that covers her face before putting the head back on. Once everything is in place, the figure has a completely different look that feels much more mysterious and intimidating.
The process isn’t quite as easy as it should be. Getting the scarf lined up and reinstalling the head takes a little patience. Once it’s finished, though, the alternate look is well worth the effort.
The four throwing knives are another nice addition. They’re tiny—really tiny. They fit into Mae’s hands, although they stay in place better if she holds more than one at a time. Hasbro also included a small storage slot on her left thigh so you can holster one of the knives when she’s not using it.
It’s a small feature, but I always appreciate little details like that.
Final Verdict
Overall, the Star Wars Black Series Mae (Assassin) is a really good figure. The sculpt is excellent, the likeness is strong, and the accessories give you a couple of different display options. The articulation isn’t the greatest, and the tiny accessories can be frustrating, but neither issue takes away from what is otherwise a solid release.
If you’re someone who enjoys posing figures in dramatic action scenes, this probably won’t be your favorite Black Series release. On the other hand, if you mainly collect figures for display, Mae looks fantastic standing alongside the rest of The Acolyte lineup.

Should You Buy It?
I’d say yes. There are definitely better Star Wars Black Series figures, but this is still a really solid release. If you’re a fan of The Acolyte, or you’re trying to complete the Black Series lineup, this figure deserves a place on your shelf.
If you’re a fan of The Acolyte, I’d recommend buying the Star Wars The Black Series Mae figure on Amazon. It’s well worth the money.
