Welcome back, travelers! We started with 64 legendary live-action sci-fi shows, and after a brutal opening round of upsets, temporal anomalies, and fandom wars, we are down to the Sweet Sixteen.

The parameters are simple: We combine Legacy Scores (IMDb/Critical Acclaim) + Tech & Tactics (Power Levels) + the Butterfly Effect Wildcard (Randomized Chaos).

But the final 20% of the score comes from YOU. Your votes decide who punches a ticket to the Elite Eight. Read the scouting reports, call out your friends in the comments, and cast your votes below!

The 1970s (The Analog Era)Vote for the 70s Round of 16
The 1980s (The Synth Era)Vote for the 80s Round of 16
The 1990s (The Golden Age)Vote for the 90s Round of 16
The 2000s (The Prestige Era)Vote for the 2000s Round of 16

The 1970s Region: Analog Brawn vs. Sci-Fi Royalty

Matchup #1: (1) The Six Million Dollar Man vs. (12) Planet of the Apes

Decades of Destiny: Side-by-side comparison of Steve Austin from "The Six Million Dollar Man" and the chimpanzee Galen from the "Planet of the Apes" TV series.

    • The Vibe: Bionic circuitry vs. Primitive Earth.

    The Tale of the Tape:

    • Steve Austin has the bionic eye and the running speed, but he is stranded on a future Earth ruled by an organized, intelligent ape army.
    • The X-Factor: Can Steve Austin outrun a horse? Yes. Can he outrun a society?

Cast your vote: Does bionics win, or do the Apes rule the planet?

Matchup #2: (6) The Incredible Hulk vs. (2) Battlestar Galactica (1978)

Decades of Destiny: Side-by-side comparison of Lou Ferrigno as the Hulk from "The Incredible Hulk" and a classic Cylon Centurion from "Battlestar Galactica."

    • The Vibe: Gamma radiation vs. Laser turrets.

    The Tale of the Tape:

    • David Banner just wants to be left alone, but he’s facing a literal orbital bombardment from a Cylon Basestar.
    • The X-Factor: We know you can’t kill the Hulk. But can the Hulk smash a spaceship in low-Earth orbit?

Cast your vote: Is the Hulk angry enough to jump into space, or does Galactica take him out of the stars?

The 1980s Region: Synthetic Perfection vs. Sitcom Chaos

Matchup #1: (1) Star Trek: The Next Generation vs. (5) ALF

Decades of Destiny: Side-by-side comparison of the sitcom character ALF sitting on a couch and Captain Jean-Luc Picard from "Star Trek: The Next Generation" holding a phaser.

    • The Vibe: Peak Federation diplomacy vs. A cat-eating alien from Melmac.

    The Tale of the Tape:

    • Picard values all life. ALF values snacks. If ALF crashes onto the Enterprise-D, Picard will try to understand him. Worf will want to lock him up. Riker will find him charming.
    • The X-Factor: ALF is a wildcard. He might accidentally activate the self-destruct while looking for the refrigerator.

Cast your vote: Does the Federation civilize ALF, or does ALF break the Enterprise?

Matchup #2: (3) V: The Series vs. (2) Knight Rider

Decades of Destiny: Side-by-side comparison of the alien Visitors from "V: The Series" and Michael Knight speaking into his wrist-com from "Knight Rider."

    • The Vibe: Lizard overlords vs. A talking Trans-Am.

    The Tale of the Tape:

    • The Visitors have lasers and Motherships. Michael Knight has K.I.T.T., a car made of an indestructible molecular-bonded shell.
    • The X-Factor: Turbo Boost. Can K.I.T.T. jump high enough to hijack a Visitor shuttle?

Cast your vote: Lasers vs. Leather jackets. Who wins?

The 1990s Region: The Wormhole Wars

Matchup #1: (8) Sliders vs. (5) Star Trek: Voyager

Decades of Destiny: Side-by-side comparison of Quinn Mallory sliding through a portal from "Sliders" and Captain Kathryn Janeway from "Star Trek: Voyager."

    • The Vibe: Multiverse jumpers vs. Delta Quadrant survivors.

    The Tale of the Tape:

    • Quinn Mallory and his team are just trying to find Earth. Captain Janeway is also just trying to find Earth.
    • The X-Factor: If they team up, Janeway may get them home in twenty minutes. If they fight, Voyager’s photon torpedoes will vaporize the Sliders before their timer counts down.

Cast your vote: Do they cooperate, or does Janeway show them no mercy?

Matchup #2: (3) Stargate SG-1 vs. (2) Star Trek: Deep Space Nine

Decades of Destiny: Side-by-side comparison of Daniel Jackson from "Stargate SG-1" aiming a firearm and Captain Benjamin Sisko from "Star Trek: Deep Space Nine."

    • The Vibe: P90 machine guns vs. Defiant-class warships.

    The Tale of the Tape:

    • Colonel O’Neill and SG-1 are experts at toppling false gods. Commander Sisko is a literal religious emissary who punched Q in the face.
    • The X-Factor: The Stargate is a ground weapon. DS9 is an orbital space station. If SG-1 dials in, they can invade the promenade.

Cast your vote: P90s vs. Phasers. This is a bloodbath. Who survives?

The 2000s Region: Prestige Television Heavyweights

Matchup #1: (9) Smallville vs. (4) Doctor Who (David Tennant)

Decades of Destiny: Side-by-side comparison of Tom Welling as Clark Kent from "Smallville" and David Tennant as the Tenth Doctor from "Doctor Who."

    • The Vibe: Teenage Superman vs. The Oncoming Storm.

    The Tale of the Tape:

    • Clark Kent is fast, strong, and invulnerable. The Tenth Doctor has a sonic screwdriver, a TARDIS, and several centuries of trauma.
    • The X-Factor: Kryptonite. The Doctor can literally travel to a time when Krypton exploded and collect some.

Cast your vote: Can Clark’s speed blitz the Doctor before the TARDIS doors close?

    Matchup #2: (3) Firefly vs. (2) Battlestar Galactica (2004)

Decades of Destiny: Side-by-side comparison of Captain Malcolm Reynolds from "Firefly" aiming a pistol and a Cylon Centurion from "Battlestar Galactica."

    • The Vibe: Space Cowboys vs. Militaristic Despair.

    The Tale of the Tape:

    • Mal Reynolds and the crew of Serenity are outlaws living on the ragged edge. Admiral Adama and the Galactica are a battle-hardened military machine fighting for the survival of the human race.
    • The X-Factor: Serenity doesn’t even have guns. The Galactica has flak batteries and nukes.

Cast your vote: Can Serenity out-fly the Vipers, or is Mal about to get blown out of the sky?

We’ve seen the heavy hitters, survived the “Region of Death,” and analyzed the eras that built the sci-fi landscape. But a bracket is just a piece of paper until the fans start voting.

Science fiction has always been about more than just special effects; it’s about the stories that stuck with us, the characters who felt like family, and the visions of the future that still keep us up at night. Whether you’re a die-hard Trekkie, an X-Phile, or a Cylon-hunter, your voice is what determines the true Greatest of All Time.

How to Make Your Voice Heard

    • Cast Your Vote: Scroll up and use the interactive poll to weigh in on today’s featured matchups.
    • Download the Bracket: Grab the [PDF version] and see if you can predict the Final Four before the results come in.
    • Join the Debate: Head to the comments and tell us: Who is your #1 overall seed, and which show was the biggest snub in the Selection Committee?
