Marvel fans have been dissecting every frame of the Spider-Man: Brand New Day trailer—and one theory keeps gaining traction: Daredevil is back. After Charlie Cox’s brief but unforgettable cameo in No Way Home, the possibility of Matt Murdock returning in Spider-Man’s next chapter feels more real than ever. From subtle visual cues to major MCU connections, the evidence is stacking up fast. Here are the 10 biggest clues that Daredevil could appear in Brand New Day—ranked from intriguing hints to near-confirmation.
Here’s the first trailer for Spider-Man: Brand New Day. Watch it below:
10. Street-Level Heroes in Spider-Man: Brand New Day (2026)

Kevin Feige said that Spider-Man is no longer in the business of saving the world. He’s taking Tony’s advice and being a friendly neighborhood Spider-Man. Parker is now a street-level hero like Daredevil in New York. On its face, it seems like the rumors are baseless, but let’s dig deeper.
9. Filmmaker’s Role in the Movie in Spider-Man: Brand New Day (2026)
It’s been confirmed that the team working on Born Again worked with the filmmakers. The filmmakers were in constant discussions with the creative team behind Daredevil: Born Again to ensure events line up for shared characters and impacts are felt between the two projects.
8. Matt Murdock Already Met Peter Parker in Spider-Man: No Way Home

Back in No Way Home, Murdock meets with Parker. Maybe he doesn’t remember him anymore, but it makes another appearance even more likely. Peter had already met Matt Murdock in No Way Home and got a look at his amazing reflexes. This leaves the door open for a reunion.
7. Set After Daredevil Season 2 in Spider-Man: Brand New Day (2026)
It’s been confirmed that Spider-Man: Brand New Day is set after the events of Daredevil: Born Again, Seasons 1 and 2, as well as a Punisher special. The film follows the street-level consequences of Mayor Wilson Fisk’s rule in New York City, which is expected to be resolved by the start of the movie.
6. Kingpin Looms Large in Spider-Man: Brand New Day (2026)

Thanks to Marvel movie rights, Wilson Fisk can’t be in the movies. But that’s Sheila Rivera in the trailer. She’s played by Zabryna Guevara, Fisk’s counselor, commemorating Spidey’s accomplishments. Is she now the mayor? What about Fisk? We can only presume that Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 will put a stop to the Kingpin’s tenure in politics, unless he uses the web-slinger as a puppet. It’s hard to imagine a major character from Born Again without the main character.
5. Tombstone is a Daredevil Villain in Spider-Man: Brand New Day (2026)

We know Marvin Jones III playing the role of the crime boss, Tombstone (Alonzo Thompson “Lonnie” Lincoln). He’s an Albino villain who’s crossed paths with Spider-Man, Daredevil, and the Punisher. Known for his albino appearance, superhuman durability, and razor-sharp teeth, he serves as a formidable physical threat to Daredevil in various street-level storylines. While he’s primarily a Spider-Man villain, his role as a NYC crime enforcer frequently puts him at odds with Daredevil. So he’s going to duel with him in the next Spider-Man movie.
4. The Punisher in Spider-Man: Brand New Day (2026)

While the Punisher started as a Spider-Man villain, these days he’s more closely connected to Daredevil. It’s hard to imagine that he would be in the movie and leave out the Man without Fear. As Spider-Man chases a tank, The Punisher follows in his battle van, leading to a clash of ideologies as Spider-Man intervenes to halt The Punisher’s violent methods. Despite their differences, there appears to be a mentor/mentee dynamic at play. While Peter Parker is expected to reject Frank Castle’s lethal approach, their joint action promises excitement for comic book fans.
3. Charlie Cox Rumored to Appear in Spider-Man: Brand New Day (2026)
Charlie Cox was slated to reprise his role as Matt Murdock/Daredevil from No Way Home and other MCU media, according to earlier reports. All the way back in October of last year, fans were speculating that he was in the movie. But he emphatically denied it. “Well, I don’t read anything, so I don’t know [what fans are saying online],” Cox said on the Phase Hero podcast. “I know that they all think I’m in Spider-Man because I’m filming something in London, which I’m not. I’m not in Spider-Man…I’m just concentrating on DD right now.”
2. The Hand in Spider-Man: Brand New Day (2026)

Back in Daredevil’s Netflix days, the supernatural ninjas known as The Hand had a big role. In Spider-Man: Brand New Day, the mysterious presence of The Hand are present during significant scenes. It raises questions, particularly with an unmasked Spider-Man in a prison and a high-altitude fight over New York City. The Hand are carrying not only katanas but also energy weapons, possibly indicating their stronger capabilities in the storyline. We’ll have to wait and see how it ito imagine them without Matt Murdock. They made their comic book debut in September 1981 and have been a thorn in the side of many heroes, including Daredevil, with whom they’re most commonly associated.
1. Charlie Cox was in London in Spider-Man: Brand New Day (2026)

Cox denied he’s in the movie, but fans noted that he was in London around the time Spider-Man was filming. Filming for the fourth Spider-Man film took place in London during late 2025, with stars Tom Holland and Zendaya spotted at Battersea Park, the Pear Tree Cafe, and near the Senate House Library. The actor is British and has a history of performing in London, including a 2019 appearance in the West End revival of Betrayal at the Harold Pinter Theatre. Cox said he was in London for the For The Love of Fantasy 2025 convention at ExCeL in August 2025, where he engaged with fans. He denied filming in the movie, but this wouldn’t be the first time an actor lied about a role in a Spider-Man film. Looking at you, Andrew Garfield.
While Marvel hasn’t officially confirmed Daredevil’s appearance in Spider-Man: Brand New Day, the clues are impossible to ignore. From The Hand’s presence to the inclusion of the Punisher and direct ties to Daredevil: Born Again, the groundwork is clearly being laid. Whether it’s a brief cameo or a major supporting role, Matt Murdock’s return feels less like a rumor and more like an inevitability. And if it happens, it could redefine Spider-Man’s place in the MCU.
What do you think—will Daredevil show up in Spider-Man: Brand New Day? Did we miss any hidden clues?
