Awesome New Captain Marvel Trailer Shows the Birth of the MCU and Brie Larson Smiling

Watch a new clip from Marvel’s upcoming female superhero movie Captain Marvel!

The 2019 College Football Playoff National Championships aired last night. The Clemson Tigers won but, more importantly, a new Captain Marvel movie clip and trailer was released by Marvel Studios!

It shows some great banter between a young Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) and Carol Danvers AKA Captain Marvel (Brie Larson).

Fury has always been the heart of the MCU and it’s great to see the natural chemistry between them. The new trailer also has Agent Coulson and Nick Fury talking about finding “more like her” teasing the start of the “Avengers Initiative”.

Oddly, one of the big complaints about the previous Captain Marvel trailers is that she “doesn’t smile enough”. The phrase seems harmless enough but The Mary Sue rightly called it out as sexist.

“Men telling women to smile is an age-old harassment issue that almost every single woman has dealt with, and apparently, even when people have the powers of a near-god being, they must still deal with it,” they said. Larson trolled trolls last year complaining about her stoic appearance with hilariously modified posters of Iron Man and Captain America.

Marvel must be listening because this trailer one not only shows her smiling but even making a joke about her photon blasts and the S.H.I.E.L.D. logo.

Marvel also released three new trailers and Fandango announced that tickets are now on sale.
