    The Meg (2018)

Here are the early genre box office results of this past week Aug 06, 2018 – Aug 12, 2018

Week 32 Box Office Winner: The Meg

Warner Bros.’ “The Meg” opened in the number one spot this weekend. Jason Statham’s prehistoric shark movie made about $45.4 million domestically and has a worldwide total of $141 million. This has shocked box office experts who originally started tracking the film in the high teens before saying the movie could make between $20 – $30 million and that seems generous. No one thought the movie would make almost $50 mission in its first weekend and over $100 million overall.

Walt Disney’s “Ant-Man and the Wasp” dropped three positions to the number 10 spot in its sixth week. It lost about 36% over last week to make $4 million for a domestic box office gross of $204 million and a worldwide total of $449 million.

20th Century Fox’s “The Darkest Minds” moved dropped five positions to the number 13 spot in its second week. It lost about 64% to make $2.1 million for a domestic box office gross of $11 million and a worldwide total of $22 million.

Universal’s “Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom” moved three positions to the number 14 spot in its eighth week. It lost about 50% over the thirteenth week to make $2 million for a domestic box office gross of $410 million and a worldwide total of $1276 million.

Warner Bros.’s “Teen Titans Go! To The Movies” dropped a surprising five position to the number 15 spot in its third week. It lost about 62% to make $1.8 million for a domestic box office gross of $26 million and a worldwide total of $30 million.

Walt Disney’s “Avengers: Infinity War” moved one position to the number 25 spot in its sixteenth week. It lost about 23% to make $0.2 million for a domestic box office gross of $678 million and a worldwide total of $2.044 billion.

What do you think of this last week’s box office? Any surprises?
