I’d love to hear what you think of the Internet’s strangest and geekiest moments in
    this week’s “Geek Bits.”

    By The Way

My brother and I have been offered an incredible opportunity and we’re so grateful. Nothing is set so we can’t talk about it, but we can say it will have a major impact on the blog. So, stay tuned.

This is How I Work Blog Hop by Ms. Mariah

This is an awesome blog hop by Ms. Mariah and I’m insanely late since the deadline was July 21st. Please forgive me. – Maurice

    1. What apps can you not live without? I keep things simple. I never thought I’d live without Google Reader, but I can’t live without Feedly. It’s awesome. I use KompoZer for writing blog posts. I also use Irfanview for basic image manipulation like resizing and GIMP for more complicated stuff.
    2. What is your favorite blogging app? KompoZer is so much better than the native writing tool in Blogger since it has lots of features and lets you copy and paste without formatting. Plus, it’s portable which is how I like my apps.
    3. What gadgets (besides your phone) you can’t live without? Tough one since my phone is a constant resource. I can’t think of anything else.
    4. What lifehacks make your life easier? Timers. Without timers I’d be writing all day. I use Snap Timer (Portable) for most countdowns. Google searches are quick and efficient.
    5. Where do you get your news? Twitter for up to the minute news and Feedly for the top stories.
    6. What are your favorite social media apps? Twitter is number one, but occasionally I’ll use Facebook. I don’t have time for the others although Google+ is a distant third.
    7. How do you blog? Mostly off-line and cut-and-paste into Blogger.
    8. What is your day job? I’m a senior computer technician for a medical device company. It keeps me busy.

Star Trek: The Animated Series – “How Sharper Than a Serpent’s Tooth” (02×05) – Recommended

Official synopsis: “The Enterprise crew encounters an alien who visited Earth in ancient times and became known as the Mayan god Kukulkan.”

This episode won an Emmy and deserves it for it’s sharp writing, clever dialogue and gorgeous animation. It’s especially noteworthy that it features a Native South American crew member who’s knowledge of ancient Mayan culture is key to saving the ship.

Sharknado 3: Oh Hell No! (2015)

Worthless and stupid. All the acting and special effects are the same, but it’s one-joke taken too far with pointless cameos and obvious product placement shoved in.

    Ant-Man (2016)

Never saw it, but go read Alex’s review! Hopefully seeing it soon!

Thanks for linking to my review!
I skipped Sharknado 3. I'll wait for the RiffTrax version.
I couldn't live without Feedly either. How would I ever keep up with blogs?
I think the dancing image from Jeremy is a bit disturbing…

    2. Pat Dilloway on July 24, 2015 5:42 pm

I fell asleep during Sharknado 1&2. They're so utterly stupid but you get all these celebrities glomming on because they want to seem cool.

    3. MedeiaSharif on July 24, 2015 6:21 pm

I've been meaning to watch the first Sharknado. I see that it must have gotten stale with this third one.

I haven't logged into Feedly for a long time. Perhaps I should see what's going on in there soon.

    4. TS Hendrik on July 24, 2015 7:24 pm

Offered an opportunity? You mention this and then can say no more? Cliffhanger!

Don't ask me why, but I wrote the above and the MacGuyver theme music started running through my head.

That story about the bat-boy is pretty great. Saving the day in style.

    5. Armchair Squid on July 25, 2015 2:07 am

I'm curious about your big news! Looking forward to learning more.

See you on Twitter. You might check the date on your announcement there.

    6. Maurice Mitchell on July 25, 2015 4:11 am

Whoops you're right the date is a typo. LOL I wish we could day more Man.

    7. Maurice Mitchell on July 25, 2015 6:10 am

The MacGuyver song will be stuck in my head all day tomorrow now. LOL Yeah the story is great and the costume makes it perfect.

    8. Maurice Mitchell on July 25, 2015 6:11 am

Watch the first one but skip the others Medeia. But only if you like bad movies. Otherwise it's torture. LOL

    9. Maurice Mitchell on July 25, 2015 6:12 am

It is a little disturbing Alex and that what makes it awesome. I'm going to watch the RiffTrax of Sharknado to get my mind off the sequels.

    10. Maurice Mitchell on July 25, 2015 6:13 am

Yeah the cameos in the second one were OK but by the third one they had so many useless cameos I didn't even recognize most of them. I assume all the worst actors were cameos but it's hard to tell. They just wanted to say they did it to look hip and cool. Hello Mark Cuban.

    11. Tony Laplume on July 26, 2015 8:43 am

      Good luck with the opportunity.

    12. D. Gonzalez on July 26, 2015 7:00 pm

Ethan Hunt was always my favorite from the old tv show. Tom Cruise is great in the movies.

    13. Stacy on July 26, 2015 8:08 pm

I just love the action in the movies! I love Ethan Hunt.

    14. baby pack and play on November 18, 2015 7:44 am

Great idea. I will try this.
