How Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch’s Powers Will Be Different in AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON

Avengers: Age of Ultron (2015) – Quicksilver (Aaron Taylor-Johnson) and Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen)

Learn more about the “Super Siblings” Quicksilver (Pietro Maximoff) and Scarlet Witch (Wanda Maximoff) in this latest Avengers: Age of Ultron featurette! The Avengers 2 movie is almost here and we’re finding out more everyday! Director Joss Whedon, Elizabeth Olsen (who plays Scarlet Witch) and Aaron Taylor-Johnson (who plays Quicksilver) talk about the roles of the characters and history. It’s pretty amazing stuff and supports what Whedon said about the characters being new but massively important.

    *** SPOILER WARNING ***

Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch first appeared in The X-Men #4 (1964) and are twin brother and sister. Quicksilver is obviously fast, but not as fast as he ultimately became in the comics where he can run at supersonic speeds and travel through time.

Whedon says Scarlet Witch has “telekinesis, she can move things and she can get inside your head so that all your worst fears or doubts come to the fore.” Olsen confirms that “She messes with all the Avengers to such an extend that they have to go somewhere and come back as a unit.” This could mean that her powers will not be as strong as in the comics, where she can bend reality and reshape the entire world.

One thing to note is that our original assumption that the two were given powers by the “Terragon Mist” is incorrect and they got they’re powers from Hydra experiments with Loki’s staff. Newsarama noted that the digital comic called Avengers: Age of Ultron Prelude – This Scepter’d Isle said, “Strucker, acting on behalf of Hydra, used the scepter on test subjects in the fictional European city of Sokovia to ‘unlock’ any powers they might have.”

The Avengers: Age of Ultron cast is Robert Downey, Jr., Chris Hemsworth, Mark Ruffalo, Chris Evans,Scarlett Johansson, Jeremy Renner, Samuel L. Jackson, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Elizabeth Olsen and James Spader. Avengers: Age of Ultron opens May 1, 2015 (USA).

What do you think of the twins? Are they going to rock the Avengers? Are you sorry the powers are changing?

I didn't really read the comics, so if their powers are different, that's fine by me. Will be interesting to see what the next X-Men movie does with the characters though.

They can always dial up the powers in later movies.

I'm not a comic book reader, but I am looking forward to watching this movie.

The only problem I have is getting the image of them kissing in the Godzilla movie out of my head by may 1st. 😉

Yeah the Fox version is going to have to step up its game after Avengers 2 comes out although the wall run still rocks.

Especially if they add the Terragon Mist to the mix Pat
