What would a real-life Batman: The Animated Series Batmobile look like? How many people are committing adultery with Netflix? Who’s the next big DC comic villain to appear on Arrow? What genre shows and movies are nominated for a Golden Globe award?
By the Way…Am I Not “Snarky” Enough?
This week I wrote a post about my genuine disappointment in the Godzilla 2014 trailer called Six Reasons the New GODZILLA 2014 Teaser Trailer Sucks.
I’m sure you’ve seen the reactions to my honest opinion in the comments
section. Disqus was working overtime to block all the cursing at me in
the comments.
It ties into something I’ve been thinking about for a while. All the
most popular bloggers are snarky and negative. I’m not like that by
nature, but should I increase my level of snarkiness? It feels like all
that negativity would get me down, but would it make our blog more or
less popular? Are those your favorite posts? What do you think?

9. ‘Netflix Adultery’ Plagues 51% Of Relationships, According To Netflix (via Huffington Post)
The term (which is intentionally dramatic) is defined this way:
“Netflix adultery” refers to the act of
watching a show “that was supposed to be our thing” without your
partner, due to an obsession with said show and / or an overwhelming
desire to find out what happens next. Side effects include having to
fake shock in response to surprising plot turns and may result in trust
issues. Netflix is currently investigating this phenomenon of rampant
infidelity.
In a study of 2000 adults, 51 percent said they either had or would
commit the act of betrayal. Of those who confessed to cheating, 41
percent refrained from sharing spoilers with their significant other.
21 percent admitted to watching the next episode while their partner
was sleeping next to them in bed.
I’m not guilty of it…yet. But I’m tempted with some shows.
8. CLOCK KING Next DC Villain Cast for ARROW (via Newsarama)
Screencrush |
Robert Knepper has joined the cast of Arrow as William Tockman for episode 14 called “Time Of Death.” Coincidentally (?) there was an online petition to get the character into the series. In other Arrow news, the “Arrow” Creative Team Deconstruct the Flash-Filled Midseason Finale.

6. First Stills From Wally Pfister’s Transcendence (2014)(via Empire Magazine)
Directed by Christopher Nolan’s Cinematographer Wally Pfister, here’s the official synopsis.
Dr. Will Caster
(Johnny Depp) is the foremost researcher in the field of Artificial
Intelligence, working to create a sentient machine that combines the
collective intelligence of everything ever known with the full range of
human emotions. His highly controversial experiments have made him
famous, but they have also made him the prime target of anti-technology
extremists who will do whatever it takes to stop him.
However, in their attempt to destroy Will, they inadvertently become
the catalyst for him to succeed—to be a participant in his own
transcendence. For his wife Evelyn (Rebecca Hall) and best friend Max
Waters (Paul Bettany), both fellow researchers, the question is not if
they can…but if they should.
Their worst fears are realized as Will’s thirst for knowledge evolves
into a seemingly omnipresent quest for power, to what end is unknown.
The only thing that is becoming terrifyingly clear is there may be no
way to stop him.
5. Sony to Expand Spider-Man Franchise With “Venom” and “Sinister Six”(via Comic Book Resources)
Following through on its ambition to “create a bigger universe around Spider-Man,” Sony Pictures announced late last night it’s expanding the franchise with the spinoffs “Venom” and “The Sinister Six.”
The news arrived on the newly uncovered “Amazing Spider-Man 2” promotional website ElectroArrives.com,
where the studio trumpeted the hiring of screenwriters Alex Kurtzman,
Roberto Orci, Jeff Pinkner, Ed Solomon and Drew Goddard, who will form a
“franchise brain trust” with director Marc Webb and producers Avi Arad
and Matt Tolmach “to expand the universe for the brand and to develop a
continuous tone and thread throughout the films.”
4. ‘Dawn of the Planet of the Apes’ Posters Are All About the Apes; New Trailer Next Week (via /Film)
The trailer lands Wednesday, December 18 at 6:00 AM Pacific Time. The official synopsis reads as follows:
A growing nation of genetically evolved
apes led by Caesar is threatened by a band of human survivors of the
devastating virus unleashed a decade earlier. They reach a fragile
peace, but it proves short-lived, as both sides are brought to the
brink of a war that will determine who will emerge as Earth’s dominant
species.
3. Genre Nominees For 71st Annual Golden Globes 2014
The 71st annual Golden Globe Awards will be held on Jan. 12, 2014. Orphan Black’s Tatiana Maslany deserves multiple awards. Her hasn’t come out yet and it’s already nominated for awards. Gravity is pulling in big award nominations…

Gravity might get it if Twelve Years in Prison doesn't.
Snarky isn't a requirement, although it's always funny. As for most popular bloggers, they tend to be those who are the most genuine and giving.
Wow, those soaps do look real! You probably don't want to go full grumpy bulldog as that hasn't really worked for me. To get grumpy:
What sucks now since The Avengers is every movie studio now wants its own big superhero universe. In the case of DC and Sony it seems they're really rushing to put something together, seemingly just cramming characters in for no good reason.
Robert Knepper! I may have to start caring about Arrow now…
Thanks Man. I can only be me.
He really is a fascinating character actor Tony. He's kind of typecast as the "crazy one" but he's always excellent.
Well said Alex.
Release the Bulldog! I'm not sure if I'd recognize your blog without the "grumpy" Pat. It works for you Man.
Snarky? I can't imagine you or Nigel being that. Thanks as always for the shout out link. I still watch The Powerpuff Girls with my kids, so it is funny seeing the Doctor in that style. My favorite one (other than the obvious) is Hurts War Doctor, I love his facial hair.
Thanks David. Like everyone I have a little Snark in me, so we'll see. Mojo Jojo still makes me laugh. I wonder if it's the fourth Doctor? 😉
