Update: Please read the updated post below

Do you have a favorite alien? Then sign up for the “My Favorite Martian” Bloghop!

Above Image: My Favorite Martian (1963) Uncle Marty (Ray Walston)

Science fiction is filled with thousands of aliens. Star Trek and Star Wars alone have tons to choose from. From Admiral Ackbar to Quark. Even Superman is an alien if you want to go with comic books. There are lots of aliens to like.

That’s why we’re hosting the “My Favorite Martian” bloghop. We’re being joined by L.K. Hill, Jay and Just A Dash of Geek.

On January 14th 21st, 2013, share your all-time favorite alien individual (Martian or not) and why you love them. Find like minded blogs, get new visitors and make new friends!

Called “My Favorite Martian”, it starts Monday (1/141/21) and will be followed by a poll of everyone’s top choices that Thursday (1/17 1/24 2/1).  Finally, we’ll have a list of the 25 most popular aliens the following Monday (1/25  1/28 2/4).

Update: I just found out I’ll be out of town that week with no Internet access. Since I want to participate I’m moving it by one week later. I don’t want to miss it! 🙂

Update 2: Moved the poll and list to the following week.

    What is a Bloghop?

A Bloghop (also known as a Blogfest) is when a blog hosts a list of blogs that plan to post on a common theme. On the day of the bloghop, bloggers and others, try to visit as many blogs in the list as possible. It’s a great way to find like-minded blogs and bloggers. They’re always a lot of fun.

    How Do I Participate?

Sign up below. That’s it! On January 14th 21st, post about your favorite alien and visit as many of the blogs in the list that you can. If you like a blog, then follow them using their preferred method (ex. Twitter, Google Friend Connect, Email) and let them know you’re following them.

    ');.

Would you like to take part, but don’t have a blog? Please come back on January 14th 21st, 2013 and leave your answer to the above question in the comments at any of the participating blogs. Not a writer, but more of a reader? That’s fine too – we would love for you to come back on January 14th 21st and just hop from blog to blog reading the different “My Favorite Martian” posts.

I am looking forward to this event and hope we can get as many people to join us as possible.

So, on January 21st, join in the fun!

    FAQ:

    1. What do I do after I join the blog hop?

Please add a link and banner to the sidebar. You can use the following code:

    <a href=”https://thegeektwins.com/2012/12/my-favorite-martian-bloghop-coming-jan.html” target=”_blank”> <img src=”http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-N8Mk7acm78Q/UOrPAKVWOsI/AAAAAAAAWok/O8OnYu9hv4o/s1600/myfavmartian.jpg” border=”0″ style=”border:none;max-width:100%;” alt=”Join The Geek Twins My Favorite Martian Blog Hop” /> </a>

    2. What should I do on the day of the blog hop?

    a. Write up a post and publish it. Be sure to include how you’d like people to follow you (ex. email, twitter, Google Friend Connect)

    b. Make sure your comment verification method is at it’s lowest setting or turned off (ex. No CAPTCHA).

    c. Go through the link list and visit as many blogs as you can. Start with the one just below yours.

    d. When you visit a blog leave a relevant comment. Please do not leave a generic comment like “Nice post!” Make sure you stay on topic. If the post is about fishing, don’t talk about knitting.

    e. Feel free to leave a link, or your blog name, but DO NOT SPAM the blog. This is about making friends, not enemies.

    f. After visting that blog, head to the next on the list. Try and visit as many as you can!

    3. What link should I put in the list?

You can always edit or change the link, so for now, use the link to your homepage. On the day of the blog hop, you can edit it to point to the specific post if you’d like.

    4. How do I show the list of blogs participating.

In your post add the following code:

    <!– start InLinkz script –><script type=”text/javascript”>
                    document.write(‘<script type=”text/javascript” src=http://www.inlinkz.com/cs.php?id=216185&’ + new Date().getTime() + ‘”></script>’);</script><!– end InLinkz script –>

Or follow this link to get embed code for your blog.

Hosted by The Geek Twins and co-hosted by Just a Dash of Geek, L.K.Hill, and Comic Book and Movie Reviews.
