Evangeline Lilly is the star of the hit film Real Steel (2011), but before that she worked her way into geek’s hearts with Lost.
Born August 3, 1979 in Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta, Canada Evangeline was described by her family as “the actor in the family.” But, you wouldn’t have known it based on her early career. She got a few uncredited parts in Freddy vs. Jason (2003) and a few episodes of the television show Smallville as an extra.
It wasn’t until she appeared in Lost as Kate Austin that her career took off. Entertainment Weekly voted her one of the Breakout Stars of 2004 and in 2006 was nominated for a Golden Globe for Best Lead Actress-Drama. Now she stars in Real Steel as Bailey Tallet.
She’s currently working on Peter Jackson’s upcoming two-part adaptation of J.R.R. Tolkien’s The Hobbit as The Elf Tauriel due for release in December 2012 and 2013.
