Jordan Peele’s name has been floating around Marvel conversations for years — and for good reason. As the filmmaker behind Get Out, Us, and Nope, Peele has proven he can blend genre thrills with layered storytelling and unforgettable visuals. So when reports surfaced that he’d met with Marvel Studios, fans immediately started imagining what a Jordan Peele–directed MCU movie might look like. But how much of the buzz is real — and how much is just rumor?
Why Everyone Keeps Linking Jordan Peele to Marvel
Rumors suggest that Oscar-winner Jordan Peele might direct a new Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) movie as the studio prepares to close out Phase 6 of the MCU. However, there are no details on which movie he may direct.
Jeff Sneider reported on The Hot Mic podcast that Jordan Peele met with Marvel about directing the X-Men reboot before Jake Schreier was confirmed as the director. After starring in his long-running Peele is known for his horror films, including the Oscar-winning Get Out.
According to a recent rumor, Jordan Peele is being considered by Marvel Studios to helm a new MCU film. Regretfully, insider Daniel Richtman’s claim did not specify which film the company wants Peele to collaborate on.
Has Jordan Peele Actually Talked to Marvel?
There were reports that Peele met with Marvel Studios to direct the upcoming X-Men reboot. Unfortunately, the talks regarding Jordan Peele directing a potential X-Men movie fell through, with reasons for the failure remaining unclear. One Take News highlights that these discussions took place quite some time ago. Jake Schreier was later confirmed as the director.
While Peele would have been a compelling choice, it is suggested that his desire to write his own script contributed to the talks not moving forward, especially since he has written all his previous directorial works, which enhance his unique vision.
He hasn’t been officially announced to be working on an MCU movie or series. But that doesn’t stop fans from guessing.
The Projects Fans Keep Connecting to Peele
Peele is known for his auteur style of filmmaking. His movies like Us and Nope have a creepy tone. Plus, he often uses horror as a metaphor for social issues. Marvel has created several projects in the horror genre. First, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, back in 2022. Then, the one-hour special Werewolf by Night on Disney+. Since then, Marvel has given up on the idea of horror. But fans are speculating on several projects Jordan Peele could work on.
Midnight Sons
The Midnight Sons are a team of supernatural superheroes in Marvel Comics, featuring characters like Blade, Morbius, the Ghost Riders, Danny Ketch, and Johnny Blaze. They first appeared in the Rise of the Midnight Sons story arc, with their full team debut in Ghost Rider (vol. 3) #31 in November 1992. Following their success, Marvel branded related stories until August 1994. The team has had various iterations, but frequent members include Morbius, Blade, and the Spirit of Vengeance. The combination of the supernatural and retribution could be a good fit for Peele.
Blade
Many fans think that he should work on the long-delayed movie about the vampire hunter Blade. But he already told Rolling Stone that he’s not interested in the film.
“So many of those properties — it’s a childhood dream to be able to essentially see what you saw in your imagination as a child, watching or reading or whatever you were doing with that stuff,” he said. “It’s a filmmaker’s dream. But you know, I feel like I only have so much time. I have a lot of stories to tell, and it just doesn’t feel right.”
Despite the temptation, Peele, who produced the Candyman reboot helmed by Nia DaCosta, has previously stated that he wants to direct and create original tales instead of large-scale franchises. In addition to Peele, Nikyatu Jusu, Dee Rees, and Tina Mabry were all considered to direct Blade.
Other characters could include Doctor Strange, Man-Thing, Man-Wolf, and Doctor Voodoo. Whatever he chooses, it would be an amazing film.
Why Fans Think Peele Fits the MCU (or Not)
Peele is a great fit for Marvel because he delivers tension without relying on jump scares. Marvel films are at their best when reflecting the world around us.
The director often uses layered social commentary. Like when he used Get Out to highlight institutionalized racism. Us to highlight social disparity and Nope to comment on the racism in the film industry.
And the MCU has already dipped into darker territory. Peele could easily elevate supernatural MCU stories, psychological thrillers, and morally complex characters.
Why Jordan Peele Might Not Want the MCU
Peele has said multiple times that he loves making original stories. If he moves to directing franchise films, he’d lose something. He’d have to submit to studio oversight, less creative control, existing canon. Plus, he might struggle with fan expectations that are impossible to satisfy. Peele’s career thrives on artistic independence.
In other words, he doesn’t seem eager to jump into a massive corporate storytelling machine — even if the paycheck is incredible.
Unfortunately for him, his career has hit a slump since his Oscar-winning film back in 2017. His next movies were critically and commercially successful. But other projects have faltered. His reboot of Twilight Zone ultimately disappointed. The movie Him, which he produced, was a bomb. He doesn’t have any projects in the pipeline.
He just might be willing to join the MCU to give his career a resurgence.
What’s Next?
So where does that leave things? We know Peele has met with Marvel (reportedly). There hasn’t been any official MCU announcement. But fans continue speculating — especially around darker MCU projects. For now, Peele has kept his focus on original films.
Could Marvel eventually announce him? Absolutely. Is there anything concrete now? Not yet. Until something official drops, the Jordan Peele–MCU conversation lives in the space between rumor and wishful thinking.
For now, Jordan Peele remains on the outside of the MCU, focused on telling original stories that give him full creative control. The meetings, speculation, and fan hopes may continue, but until Marvel officially announces something, the idea of Peele directing a superhero blockbuster lives firmly in the realm of “what if.” And honestly, that might be exactly why the conversation keeps going — because the possibility is just intriguing enough to keep fans watching.
