Oscar Isaac has previously jokingly said he’d return for Star Wars’ upcoming movies if he “needed another house.” But Isaac backtracked on that. He’s made it clear he’s interested in more than money. Shortly after Jimmy Kimmel was suspended by Disney for remarks made on-air, Isaac made his remarks without holding back. “Yeah. I mean, I’d be open to it, although right now I’m not so open to working with Disney,” he said. “But if they can kinda figure it out and, you know, not succumb to fascism, that would be great.”
Meanwhile, Boyega has made it clear he’ll only return on three conditions. First, it has to be a movie and not a Disney+ show. “Me and Oscar are very stubborn, and we believe the bromance should only be on the big screen,” he told the crowd. Considering how focused Disney is on the streaming service, it’s hard to believe he’d put that line in the sand. It’s possible that he’s only interested in money. After all, there’s a lot more money in theatrical movies than on streaming. But his next demands show it’s not just about the money.
Second, the script has to be “great.” Boyega isn’t interested in cashing a paycheck. He wants to make a great Star Wars movie. Considering how terrible the script is for Rise of Skywalker, this should be mandatory.
His third demand is even more stunning. He’d only return with Isaacs and Chewbacca actor Joonas Viljami Suotamo as co-stars. “It has to be a movie and obviously a great script,” he added. “And I already spoke to Joonas today and said Joonas, you must join Poe and Finn on their adventure. So if I get those combinations, who knows?”
Wanting to work with another actor is fine, but holding out on a potential multi-million dollar salary to work with another actor is amazing.
