How Did Tom Holland Get Injured?
Tom Holland, who has starred as the superhero in films since 2016, suffered a “mild concussion” while filming the latest Marvel film, Spider-Man: Brand New Day.
Holland sustained a mild concussion on September 19, 2025, while filming a stunt for the movie at Leavesden Studios in Watford, UK. The incident occurred when a “pull ring” line snapped during the stunt, causing Holland to fall and hit his head.
This type of stunt typically involves performers being suspended by cables, often for flight or swinging effects, as seen in superhero films like Spider-Man. A “pull ring” is a component within the rigging system that helps control the movement of the line. It might be used to adjust speed, height, or direction.
As of now, the exact height from which he fell hasn’t been publicly disclosed. But considering it’s “mild,” it probably wasn’t too high up.
The accident footage hasn’t been released, but there’s behind-the-scenes video of him web-swinging on the streets of Glasgow. Watch it below:
Has Tom Holland Been Hospitalized?
He was promptly taken to the hospital for treatment and observation, but was not admitted. The closest hospital to Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden in Watford, UK, is Watford General Hospital. Located approximately 3.7 miles (6 km) from the studios, it offers a full range of emergency and medical services. Given its proximity, it’s a likely candidate for any medical emergencies that occur on the set.
Mild concussions are treated with rest, monitoring, and pain relief. Gradual return to activity is recommended, avoiding alcohol and strenuous physical or cognitive tasks.
Despite the injury, Holland made a public appearance the following day at a charity event in London with his fiancée, Zendaya, and co-star. However, he left early due to feeling unwell.
Did Tom Holland’s Accident Affect the Filming?
Tom Holland’s injury did affect the filming of Spider-Man: Brand New Day. Originally, the production team had been told to “stand down for two weeks.” But later it was announced that he would return to filming sooner than expected.
As a precaution, production was paused for several days to allow him to recover. Filming is expected to resume on Monday, September 29, 2025.
Will Tom Holland’s Accident Affect the Release Date?
Although the filming of Spider-Man: Brand New Day will be disrupted for a week, the movie’s release is not anticipated to be impacted. The Sony Pictures and Marvel Studios film is still on schedule for its release date as of right now.
Naturally, a lot of the details surrounding Brand New Day are being kept secret, even though it is less than a year away. Memory-wiped MJ (Zendaya) and Ned (Jacob Batalon) will return in the movie, along with a large cast of both new and old Marvel Cinematic Universe characters. Alongside Avengers veteran Mark Ruffalo as the Hulk, Jon Bernthal will play Frank Castle, also known as the Punisher. Michael Mando, who starred in Better Call Saul, will also return to his role as Spider-Man: Homecoming’s Scorpion. Sadie Sink from Stranger Things, who has a significant unspecified role, and Trammell Tillman, who won an Emmy for Severance, are newcomers to the MCU.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day is still scheduled to debut in theatres on July 31, 2026.
