Warning: Spoilers for Twisted Metal Season 2 Episode 1 “PRSRPNT”

    Recap Twisted Metal (2025): S2E01 – “PRSRPNT”

Twisted Metal season 2 begins back in 1998, in San Jose, California, where Young Raven (Halle Tator) and Young Kelly (Morgan Douglas) attend a graduation party. Kelly’s tarot card prank turns disastrous when she falls into the pool. Raven races outside, but her friend is face down in the pool.

Back to the present in New San Francisco, John Doe (Anthony Mackie), a delivery driver nicknamed “John Dough”, is kept under lock and key while practicing driving on an arcade machine playing the PlayStation 2 version of Twisted Metal. Raven (Patty Guggenheim) reprimands him for trying to escape. Meanwhile, Dollface (Tiana Okoye), Quiet (Stephanie Beatriz), and other Dolls aim to destroy the City’s Wall and redistribute wealth through a winner-takes-all tournament. John must drive to survive and save Kelly.

Sweet Tooth (Joe Seanoa and Will Arnett) and Stu (Mike Mitchell), students in the academy of Sweet Tooth killing, are determined to kill fearsome killers. They learn about the legend of Big Baby, who wiped out a town in one day and uses an umbilical cord with a mace as a weapon. Truly disturbing stuff. Stu and the Sweet Tooth fight against killers, but discover the Trash Man is even bigger. The homicidal clown leaves Stu with a plan to bring all killers to them in a tournament.

Back in the town John Doe is grounded and passes the time reading Babysitters Club books. He finds Volume 89, carved out and hiding some bad weed. So John uses his newly dicovered secret map and helps escape thanks to a clueless guard. They switch clothes, and John hijacks discovers an ambulance with Kelly, who is comatose and on life support.

Calypso announces he’s hosts a tournament with a survival battle in a week. The winner receiving a wish. Back on the run John is saved from some gun toting cars by dolls. He’s shot in the shoulder, and it turns out Dollface may be the Milkman’s sister. Before leaving, Calypso drops off Kelly and her life-support machine. Raven’s relieved until she notices Kelly’s holding a ripped page from the diary.

Overall: Watch Twisted Metal (2025): S2E01 – “PRSRPNT”

Now that Twisted Metal is back, the action picks off where it left off in this insane comedy drama. With everything getting ready for this major tournament, the well-known humorous beats combined with the graphic drama work just as well here as they did the first time.

While knowing more about Raven’s past is a lovely touch, the show does a good job of keeping things interesting—at least for now, as it’s not certain who will survive this.

We’ll have to wait and see where this one goes, but this show has all the makings of a season that is as crazy as the first one.

I’m giving this episode 4.5 out of 5 stars
