Sony continues its soft marketing launch with a new video that shows its first day of shooting in Glasgow for Spider-Man: Brand New Day. It shows Tom Holland in his brand-new outfit.
You’ve undoubtedly seen some public footage if you’ve spent the last week on social media. A higher-quality version of what those people witnessed is provided by this behind-the-scenes vignette, which shows Holland not only impressing the crowd with his new suit (and taking pictures with kids who are dressed similarly) but also conversing with director Daniel Destin Cretton while they film a set piece featuring a tank that is probably owned by…someone. It’s unclear who that insignia on the side belongs to, but fans have their own theories. Although the Hulk, Scorpion, and Punisher are all scheduled to make an appearance, we still don’t know who the main villain of the movie is.
The official justification for this video is that, according to the cover of Amazing Fantasy #15, the year Spider-Man made his debut, August 10 is Peter Parker’s birthday in the MCU. Unofficially, though, it’s also a means for Sony to promote the fact that Brand New Day was filmed in the early stages of the pandemic. According to Jon Watts, the director of the Home trilogy, they were trying times, but Marvel is now in a position where it wants to showcase its comic book roots.
Florence Pugh’s skyscraper jump and outstanding behind-the-camera skills were used to sell Thunderbolts. Fantastic Four also used sets and miniatures, and now Brand New Day is doing both. On July 31, 2026, Spider-Man: Brand New Day will be released in theaters.
