Warning: Spoilers for Nautilus Season 1 Episode 9 “Ride of the Valkyrie”

Recap Nautilus (2025): S1E09 – “Ride of the Valkyrie”

Nemo survived the attempted mutiny. He and Humility discuss the Northern Lights and his life with his daughter, settling her in her fears. Later he and the crew are eating together. They discuss their plans for the treasure. With Lotte aiming to open a bar in Tahiti and Kai promoting it to Thailand. Their relationship is cute. Jaicomo struggles with his lack of memory, and Nautilus could have focused more on this.

Cuff, who’s on watch, calls Nemo outside on the little deck to see something odd. Some of the others join them. They sail past tall pikes with skulls impaled upon their tips. The warning instantly revives the dread and fears of the crew. As they continue sailing forward through the fog, the giant pillars of Halvar come into view.

The Nautilus reaches the Pillars of Halvar, where everyone but Suyin and Blaster searches for treasure. But it’s not there, and the crew are suddenly taken from the water. Nemo and the crew encounter Valkyries, who are destined to protect Freja’s treasure, killing anyone who comes.

The Valkyries decide to put Nemo on trial since he’s the captain of the vessel. This scene gives everyone a chance to talk about Nemo, and it’s nice considering they were going to let him rot in jail a few hours ago. Despite the positive words. THEY condemn them to death. The crew, fight back and jumps off a cliff.m to escape.

Nemo chooses to save Cuff from drowning in the sea and loses the leaders rubies. The crew returns to Nautilus, and Blaster and Suyin hold back the warrior women. Its a great moment revealing Suyin’s hidden strength. Hopefully Season 2 will explore her hidden qualities.

Overall: Watch Nautilus (2025): S1E09 – “Ride of the Valkyrie”

This is an action packed episode but it still gave some time for the characters to explore their relationships. The trial and the meal allowed the crew to interact naturally without using a hackneyed narrative structure.

Nautilus is a charming show with a unique cast that delivers comedic timing and natural personalities. The show’s finale, “Ride of the Valkyrie,” showcases Nemo’s journey from enigmatic leader to friend. Episode 9 is particularly noteworthy for its action set piece, perfectly shot and pacing. The penultimate episode of the season explores the Nautilus crew’s journey against the East India Mercantile Company, highlighting the show’s ability to interweave emotional stakes into comedy.

I’m giving this episode 4 out of 5 stars
