Last weekend, the latest Superman movie opened, and it’s smashing through movie theaters.
With an estimated $122 million, the new film, which stars David Corenswet as an adventurous and sympathetic Clark Kent, has topped the weekend box office charts in both the US and Canada.
Warner Bros. predicted that the movie’s earnings would reach an impressive $217 million by Sunday, July 13, including an additional $95 million from foreign markets, for a worldwide total of $312 million in ticket sales. The triumph of Warner Bros. and its superhero subsidiary, DC Studios, coincides with a dangerous moment for the film business. As moviegoing remains below pre-pandemic levels in 2025, Superman is one of only three films to open with domestic ticket sales of over $100 million.
