According to insiders, Emmy nominee Natasha Lyonne will be joining the highly awaited Marvel film, The Fantastic Four, as Marvel Studios continues to assemble an all-star cast for the film. She joins a cast that already features Vanessa Kirby as Sue Storm, aka the Invisible Woman, Joseph Quinn as Johnny Storm, aka the Human Torch, Ebon Moss-Bachrach as Ben Grimm, aka the Thing, and Pedro Pascal as Reed Richards, aka Mr. Fantastic. In addition to Paul Walter-Hauser and John Malkovich in undisclosed roles, she joins Ralph Ineson as Galactus, and Julia Garner plays Silver Surfer (Shalla-Bal).
Fantastic Four is directed by WandaVision’s Matt Shakman, from a screenplay by Ric Pearson, Josh Friedman, Jeff Kaplan, and Ian Springer. The movie will go into production this summer, with a July 25, 2025 premiere date planned.
Marvel Studios remained silent about the casting news. Both the plot and character details are being withheld.
Following her Emmy-nominated performance in Rian Johnson’s Poker Face Lyonne has been successful lately. The show is in production on its second season and has received nominations for every major award, including the Peabody, Golden Globe, and Emmys. It has also won prizes at the WGA and TCA. On the program, Lyonne not only writes and directs, but also stars and produces.
Before Poker Face, Lyonne had great success as the creator and star of the critically acclaimed Netflix series Russian Doll, which was nominated for 14 Emmy Awards, including Comedy Series and Lead Actress, a Golden Globe for acting, two WGA nominations, and the TCA award for Outstanding New Program. The show won three Emmy Awards. Executive producing, writing, and directing the show, Lyonne also acted as showrunner for its second season and won accolades for its sensitive and humorous treatment of serious subjects like trauma and metaphysics.
Lyonne’s next project, a 3000 Pictures and Sony production, is Taika Waititi’s stage adaptation of Kazuo Ishiguro’s New York Times bestselling book Klara and the Sun, which just ended production. Jenna Ortega and Amy Adams are the film’s stars. In addition, she is producing and costarring in the upcoming film His Three Daughters with Elizabeth Olsen and Carrie Coon. Netflix purchased the movie during the Toronto Film Festival in 2023. She will provide a voice in the upcoming animated Smurfs film from Paramount in 2025.
