Warning: May contain spoilers!
1. ‘Spider-Man’ Spin-Off ‘El Muerto’ Loses Its Release Date | HeroicHollywood
El Muerto, a Spider-Man spin-off film starring Puerto Rican rapper Bad Bunny, has lost its January 12, 2024 release date. The film, based on the iconic villain El Muerto, is known for its high-flying wrestling moves and superhuman strength. The Hispanic character is created by Peter David and Roger Cruz. He’s best known for his unique look, distinctive mask, and design. His backstory includes gaining superhuman powers after a brush with death. Despite the project’s delay due to issues like the WGA writer’s strike, Sony is considering reconsidering its plans for the Bad Bunny film.
Another one bites the dust. Disney’s failures are a win for Marvel. Hopefully they’ll get the Spider-Man rights back soon.
2. The Company Behind Secret Invasion’s Opening Credits Defends Use Of AI After Marvel Fan Backlash | Screenrant
Marvel Studios’ Secret Invasion premiered on Disney+, causing controversy over its opening credits. The series revolves around Nick Fury returning to Earth to stop a Skrull invasion, focusing on the paranoia element of being a Skrull due to the alien race’s shape-shifting abilities.
The company, Method Studios, defends its use of AI, stating that it complemented and assisted the creative teams. The studio says it used AI tools for characters and movements but the “opening involved traditional work from animators, compositors, and other artists”.
However, the use of AI in creative spaces has been a growing topic of concern, with artists expressing concerns about the potential copying of their work and fearing that AI could take away their jobs in the future. The 2023 Writers Guild of America strike has also impacted the industry, with Marvel Studios delaying several movies and moving up Deadpool 3. The controversy extends to Marvel fans, who are divided on the use of AI in the show’s aesthetic.
I don’t care what Method Studios says. AI artwork has a distinctive crappiness to it. So either they’re lying about how much AI was involved or the artists intentionally made it look like crap.
3. John Wick Director Chad Stahelski Says The Academy Is Finally Discussing An Oscar For Stunts | SlashFilm
In 2023, there is still no Oscar for stunt work, despite efforts by stunt performers and coordinators for over three decades. The Academy has not considered creating an award for stunt work, but Chad Stahelski, the director of “John Wick,” believes that conversation has begun. Stahelski and his co-director David Leitch have reinvented the Hollywood action movie industry, with Stahelski and Leitch co-founding the stunt coordination company 87eleven. The Academy has not had a clear decision on what to award for stunt work, but both sides have been positive, and it is expected that the first Oscar for stunt work will be handed out soon.
This would be great for all the talented stunt performers in the industry. But it could be a game changer for Marvel Studios and make it easier to win an Oscar.
4. ‘The Flash’ Flop Allegedly Killed ‘Batman Beyond’ Project | HeroicHollywood
The Flash has struggled at the box office, with rumors of cancelled Batman Beyond projects. Batman Beyond was a 1999 animated sequel to Batman: The Animated Series. Set in the far future of 2039, Bruce Wayne, in his 80s, has retired from crime-fighting. His partners, including Alfred Pennyworth, have either retired or died, and he has severed ties with Superman and the Justice League. A teenager named Terry McGinnis takes over and becomes the new Batman.
An animated project and a live-action movie starring Michael Keaton were in development before Keaton’s departure from the main Batman of the DC Universe. Warner Bros. Discovery has a script for a potential sequel to The Flash, but they did not discuss it during their DC Universe presentation.
A Batman Beyond movie would have been amazing so it’s a shame that it got dragged under by the underwhelming Flash movie.

Ford’s current stage of life is embraced in his final “Indiana Jones” movie, aiming to embrace his age and confront the question of age in the story. “Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny” opens on June 30 from Disney.
Let’s hope we get a few years from him as Thunderbolt Ross since he replaced William Hurt.

A Batman Beyond movie with Keaton would have been great. Maybe they could get Clooney to do it; if he doesn’t have to wear a Batsuit it’d probably work better.
I don’t know how long Harrison Ford can stick around. A lot of actors who have gotten to 80 like Sean Connery or Paul Newman found the grind and remembering all the lines too hard. If he can do it still then good for him.
