ICYMI: Kevin Feige Fighting for James Gunn, AQUAMAN Won’t Have JL, Grant Gustin Responds to Body-Shaming and More

Here’s everything you may have missed this morning Thursday, August 09, 2018. In Case You Missed It (ICYMI).

    1. Tom Hardy’s Venom Voice is the Rapper Redman Crossed With…Woody Allen? via /Film

“Woody Allen’s tortured neurosis and all the humor that can come from that. Conor McGregor — the überviolence but not all the talking. And Redman out of control, living rent-free in his head.” Those are not details he revealed to the execs at Sony, which is producing the movie. “You don’t say s**t like that to the studio,” he says.

    2. Kevin Feige Is Reportedly Fighting GOTG VOL. 3 Director James Gunn’s Corner At Marvel Studios via Comic Book Movie

According to MCU Cosmic’s Jeremy Conrad, the Marvel Studios President is “fighting on the inside” for “Gunn’s vision” to remain part of the threequel and that’s he’s actually “livid” about the firing.

    3. ‘Aquaman’ Won’t Feature Other ‘Justice League’ Characters, Says Director James Wan via /Film

“I wanted to keep the story to the world of Aquaman and not have to worry about what other characters are doing in their films and how that would affect us. I just thought the simplest way was to keep it clean — keep it simple and let it be an Aquaman story.”

    4. James Gunn’s ‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3’ Script Still Being Used By Disney, Even as Gunn is Courted By Other Studios via /Film

    5. ‘Ant-Man and the Wasp’ Will be the Final Marvel Studios Movie to Stream on Netflix via /Film

“The report says, “Starting with ‘Captain Marvel’ in March, all of the films that Walt Disney Studios releases in theaters will subsequently flow to the Disney streaming platform instead of to Netflix.” This will include not only Marvel films, but all of the Star Wars movies and Disney releases as well. It’s a move that was to be expected since Disney first announced its plans to launch a streaming service last summer.”

    6. Everything That Will Happen Before Disney Actually Owns Fox via Screenrant

    7. Topher Grace Was Surprised Sony Thought He Was Right for Venom via Screenrant

“I was a huge fan of the character of Venom when I was a kid when Todd McFarlane brought him into the comic. I was a huge fan of it. And I was surprised and a little bit like ‘Huh?’ when they wanted me to play it. So when I look at it now, at the movie that’s coming out, I go ‘That’s the guy.’ In terms of how I think the guy should be played and who should play it.” – Executive VP of Original Content Julie McNamara

    8. Warner Bros. Is Finally Realizing Supergirl Should Be the Center of the DC Universe via io9

    9. CBS Execs Want New STAR TREK “All The Time” via TrekCore

“We’ve really talked about virtually all of the characters who popped in Discovery as potential spin-off shows. It’s obviously very much driven by our conversations with Alex Kurtzman’s Secret Hideout and the other creators involved. I wouldn’t say at this point that we are actively pursuing a Michelle Yeoh series but it has been discussed.”

    10. Watch William Shatner And Other Star Trek Stars Talk About Patrick Stewart’s Return As Picard via Trek Movie

    11. ‘The Flash’ Fans Stand Up For Grant Gustin After Body Shaming Comments via Heroic Hollywood

The image below leaked online and people began making fun of Grant Gustin for being thin.

    Gustin responded on Instagram.

“So here’s the thing about this bull***t photo leak,” Gustin wrote in response on Instagram. “That’s a terrible photo that I was unaware was being taken, much less being posted. Some things need work and they will be worked on. Well get there. As far as the body shaming. That’s what pisses me off. Not even just for my sake. I’ve had 20+ years of kids and adults telling me or my parents I was too thin. I’ve had my own journey of accepting it. But there’s a double standard where it’s ok to talk shit about a dudes body. I do my best to stay in shape and add as much size as I can through out these seasons.

“I’m naturally thin, and my appetite is greatly affected by stress. Stress is something that ebbs and flows for me throughout a season. Thus, gaining weight is a challenge for me. I didn’t cast a slim actor as The Flash. I went to an audition for a role I never dreamed I’d actually book.

“But, here I am 5 seasons later. I’m happy with my body and who I am and other kids who are built like me and thinner than me should be able to feel the same way.

“Not only that, but they should be able to feel like THEY could be a superhero on tv or film or whatever it may be someday. I love the suit that has been designed for me. and I think when everyone sees it in its entirety, you will love it too. Things have been adjusted since that leaked shot was taken, and more things will continue to be adjusted until it feels right.”
