Danai Gurira, who plays Okoye in “Black Panther”, is early talks to star in “Godzilla vs. King Kong” and the next “Star Trek” film.
When Danai Gurira scored her breakout role on “The Walking Dead” as Michone it was obvious she was special. Now, after her success in “Black Panther”, Hollywood is finally taking notice.
Deadline reports that the actor and award-winning playwright’s in negotiations to star in an unnamed role in the fourth Godzilla movie by Legendary/Warner Bros out May 31, 2019. She would be joining Millie Bobby Brown and Julian Dennison.
Meanwhile Paramount is also talking to her about joining S.J. Clarkson’s “Star Trek” film in an unnamed role. There’s no official release date for “Star Trek 4” but S.J. Clarkson is meeting with the cast, which includes Chris Hemsworth reprising his role as Captain Kirk’s father George Kirk.
It’s an exciting time for black women in film. Plus, not for nothing, she represents an inspiring surge in popularity for dark-skinned women in movies. She’s also a real-life warrior woman as Gurira has just been named as the new face of the sportswear company Reebok.
