New ‘Black Panther’ Trailer Shows Where Killmonger Gets His Suit

    Black Panther (2017)

A new International Black Panther trailer made its way onto the internet and it seems to show where Erik Killmonger gets his amazing suit.

The trailer is mostly made up of clips we’ve seen before with a few clips from other movies like Avengers. It also has a new scene with Black Panther, played by Chadwick Boseman, fighting some soldiers in the jungle. The villainous Erik Killmonger, played by Michael B. Jordan, also cryptically says he wants “the phone throne”. But one part stands out.

The trailer also gives us a longer view of the scene where Shuri, played by Letitia Wright, introduces him to his new “lighter” and “bulletproof” nano suit.

Shuri is the tech specialist in the fictional African nation of Wakanda and makes all the weapons and equipment. In the corner is a prototype suit that looks a lot like the one Killmonger wears in his fight.

So, while we don’t know for sure, it looks like he steals it from Shuri’s workshop or he makes her give it to him. He’s been nicknamed Golden Jaguar by fans (but not Marvel), but maybe he’s actually White Jaguar?

Marvel hasn’t officially explained where the suit comes from. Entertainment Weekly asked the cast about it at Comic-Con. No one gave a straight answer but Letitia Wright, who plays Shuri did unintentionally give a clue. “There’s some intelligent brains behind that creation,” she said. Which brains? Could it be the smartest person in Wakanda? This, plus her comment, seems to confirm that Shuri made the suit that Killmonger is wearing.

Correction: In a classic case of bad lip reading I thought Killmonger said “I want the phone” instead of “I want the throne”. It makes a lot more sense that way.

What do you think of Killmonger’s suit?
