Who will play Black Lightning and Miles Morales? What C-level superhero is getting her own TV show? Find out in this week’s Geek Bits!
ITEM! Of course, the big news this week is that the teaser trailer for Star Wars: The Last Jedi is finally here!*
Feast your eyes on the first glimpses of the next stage of the “Star Wars” saga…
ITEM! It’s been confirmed that Spider-Man will be getting an animated movie in theaters, and that Spider-Man will be Miles Morales. Yes, Miles Morales will finally hit the big screen in animated form. Okay, we wanted to see Morales as the live-action Spider-Man, but baby steps. This week, it was announced that Shameik Moore (“The Get Down,” “Dope”) will be voicing the African-American/Latino teenager.
ITEM! The CW’s Black Lightning TV show is getting closer, and they released a new image of the African-American hero, played by Cress Williams (Hart of Dixie, Friday Night Lights).
ITEM! In the not-too-distant future, a new season of Mystery Science Theater 3000 hit Netflix streaming!
Thanks to a successful Kickstarter campaign, the show has been revived. Yes, I’ve watched the first episode, and it’s awesome. Just as funny, even with all the changes in the cast. The special effects in the wraparounds are just as cheesy while definitely upgraded. All the fans should really just relax.
If you don’t have Netflix, you can check out the new crew riffing on a few minutes of Stranger Things:
Oh, and if you think the actor David Harbour felt bad about them making fun of him, Harbour posted this:
Holy sh!t, the @MST3K guys body shaming me may just be the greatest moment of my career😏👌🚬🍩 https://t.co/tzU785EkT8

ITEM: Marvel is getting deeper into the TV universe with its New Warriors concept going to series on Freeform. That’s the second Marvel series on Freeform, along with Cloak and Dagger. If you’re not familiar with the New Warriors, you only need to know one thing: live-action Squirrel Girl. Bet you never thought Squirrel Girl would get a live-action TV show before She-Hulk or Moon Knight.
* I just love that GIF of Gal Gadot doing her Wonder Woman spin. First of all, it’s more of a dance than a spin, but I’ll allow it. Second of all, she looks so happy, like she’s so thrilled to be Wonder Woman. Third, it’s totally sexy. Gadot is really growing on me as Wonder Woman. Let’s see it again.
