I’d love to hear what you think of the Internet’s strangest and geekiest moments in
this week’s “Geek Bits.”
Poll
This
week’s poll question is about National Donut Day which happens every year on the first Friday of June.
Randy’s Donuts is a landmark donut shop in Inglewood, California, near Los Angeles International Airport. Director Jon Favreau said Randy’s Donuts was the perfect place for Tony Stark to recover from his hangover. “The
idea was, ‘What’s this guy like the morning after?’ ‘Where would this
guy go if he had a hangover?’ And then the answer we came up with was
‘He would go to Randy’s Donuts.’ “

Star Trek: The Animated Series – “The Slaver Weapon” (01×14) – Recommended
Official synopsis: Spock, Sulu and Uhura are captured by the Kzinti, who are trying to learn the secret of an ancient weapon.
This
episode is written by the great science fiction writer Larry Niven. He
wrote a short story called “The Soft Weapon” in 1967 about a series of
mysterious boxes left behind by an ancient race that an evil alien race
tries to exploit. They pretty much adapted it completely for the show
using different characters. Spock scientific curiosity for a stasis box
leads the shuttle crew into a trap and it’s wonderful to see him face
his hubris. Since the entire episode focuses on the three characters
they get the rare time to shine. When we watched the episode last week
we got a kick out of it and agreed it’s one worth watching.
If you’re on Twitter next week we’re doing a live Twitter chat of the
next episode “The Eye of the Beholder” on Tuesday, June 9, 2015 at 5:00 PM
EDT. You can watch it on Hulu or Netflix. Join us!

Mmmmm donuts. I really can't think of any other movies featuring donuts right now.
About time they made Godzilla a citizen.
Cool about the stunt doubles. That movie is still batcrap crazy from start to finish. I may have to go see it a third time.
Can't think of a movie. Donuts and Simpsons are forever ingrained in my mind together.
I personally think it's a travesty that Missoula (the middle-of-nowhere where I live) has no donut place. Not sure how I'll celebrate tomorrow 😉 And as much as I didn't care for 2012, the donut rolling down the road is funny! Now if only I could afford to rent the pad on Ibiza…
That is tragic Meradeth, but it could be a good side job for you guys! Yes its probably a bit on the pricey side but I'm sure is worth every penny.
That was the first thing I thought about two Alex and I almost put that one in. And everything over the stunt doubles in the movie did a lot of work.
Watching over Twitter was fun. Already excited for next week!
I want to win so I can take my boyfriend to see it. And I love T Rex
Hang on a minute, there's a national donut day! How the heck did I not kow about that, right then off to get some donuts 😉
I missed National Donut Day? Can I hit Dunkin Donuts and celebrate today instead?
I like the Mars Attack scene. Such an odd but funny film.
Stegasaurus has been my favorite since I was a kid!
No wonder that donut is so familiar. It's been all over the place. Funny Shia videos.
It gonna be awesome Squid!
Celebrate every day L! Mars Attacks was a fun movie and not as graphic as the cards which is good.
The place has been everywhere Medeia!
I want to see this latest installment! I have seen all of the rest and my favorite dinosaur is the velociraptor.
lol … I may just have to have a donut every other day throughout June 😉
I want to see it because Chris Pratt. Wait? There are dinosaurs in this? Just here for the Pratt party.
A huge fan of these movies and I like the raptors
mmmm donuts and the crazy inspirations by witwicky… thank you, weekend complete.
Ichthyosaurs would be my favorite because they look like dolphins. I saw Park in 3D and it was looked so unbelieveably real. Can't wait to world 3D
