Poll: Who Would You Cast in X-MEN If It Were Made in the 80’s?

    X-Men(1985) Wolverine (Kurt Russell)

Open Hailing Frequencies: What if the X-Men film were made in the 1980s? Who would you cast?

Two weeks ago Pat had a great idea:

It occurred to me while I was watching “Big Trouble in Little China” that if they’d been doing an X-Men movie in the 80s Kurt Russell would have been a good choice for Wolverine, so long as he dyed his hair.

Ironically enough X-Men:Apocalypse is going to be set in the 1980s, but what if you could take the take the great 80s actors and cast them as the uncanny X-Men: Professor Xavier, Storm, Wolverine, Cyclops, Jean Grey, Rogue and Beast? What about the villains: Magneto, Sabretooth, Toad and Mystique?

I had some ideas, but decided to make the topic this week’s “Hailing Frequencies” question because I know you guys will come up with some great stuff.

Please post a picture or clip of the actor and then list which character(s) they would play and why. When we’re done I’ll try and make up a cast photo for the film and post it.

Come back next week for the bi-weekly caption contest and comes back in two weeks for the next poll.

If you have an idea for a poll send it to us using our contact form or email us at geektwins (at) gmail.com!

Who would you cast in X-Men 1985?

No picture, but agree Kurt Russell would've been a fun Wolverine.
Not necessarily my choice, but I can picture Ally Sheedy as Rogue.

    2. Drewidian on March 20, 2014 12:36 pm

      And Iman as Storm.

    3. Pat Dilloway on March 20, 2014 1:34 pm

That is such an awesome question! Alex's mention of Ally Sheedy makes me think we could have a whole Breakfast Club X-Men team: Ally Sheedy as Rogue, Molly Ringwald as Jean-Grey, Anthony Michael Hall as Cyclops, and Judd Nelson as Wolverine. I guess for Storm you'd have to go outside the Hughesiverse as I can't think of a black actor appearing in them.

    4. Tony Laplume on March 20, 2014 3:12 pm

Robert Downey, Jr. as Cyclops! Molly Ringwald as Kitty Pryde! Daryl Hannah as Jean Grey! Michael J. Fox as Iceman! Val Kilmer as Angel! David Hasselhoff as Wolverine! Mickey Rourke as Magneto! Patrick Stewart as Professor X! (Still!) Lisa Bonet as Storm! Dolph Lundgren as Colossus! Tom Hanks as Nightcrawler! Demi Moore as Mystique!

    5. Jessica Stank on March 20, 2014 6:18 pm

      Here's my list!
Patrick Swayze as Wolverine. Matt Dillon as Cyclops. Christopher Reeve as Magneto. Demi Moore as Jean. Kim Bassenger as Kitty. Grace Jones as Storm. Phoebe Cates as Jubilee. Dennis Quaid as Sabretooth. Christian Slater as Gambit.

    6. Brian on March 21, 2014 3:02 am

Iman /Storm , Dolf Lungren/ Colossus, Kim Bassenger /Jean Grey, Tom Hanks/Cyclops, Madonna/Dazzler, hhhmmmm, need more time for the others

    7. Maurice Mitchell on March 21, 2014 6:14 am

    8. bastardjackyll on March 21, 2014 7:31 am
