Who is going to play Ant-Man? Who might play Lex Luthor in Man of Steel 2? What were Han Solo and Leis singing about when Luke was freezing on Hoth? Is Batman a Time Lord? How can you propose to your Batman-loving girlfriend?

Find out all of the Internet’s greatest moments in this week’s “Geek Bits.”

    10. Latest ‘Amazing Spider-Man 2′ Teaser Poster Simplifies Things (via /Film)

If you’re a member of Sony’s Amazing Spider-Man fan group then you get access to all kinds of exclusive goodies including this new teaser poster for The Amazing Spider-Man 2. It’s simple and powerful. Spider-Man is getting ready to battle Electro’s lightning.

    9. Joaquin Phoenix Offered Villain Role in ‘Batman vs. Superman’ (/Film)

    “According to Variety,
Phoenix has been offered the role but has yet to accept. He’s never
been one to do big studio blockbusters and also is reportedly up for a
new Gus Van Sant film, Sea of Trees, which seems much more in
his wheelhouse. So that puts some big question marks around the
possibility of him playing the role. It would be a surprise if he takes
    the villain job.”

    1. Paul Rudd Cast as Hank Pym in Marvel’s ‘Ant-Man’ Movie (via Screen Rant)

    Source

    The Wrap dropped
the exclusive announcement of Rudd “being in talks” with Marvel
Studios, but with months of speculation that Rudd was in competition for
the role against Joseph Gordon-Levitt (who’s since moved on to Sandman) – as well as the noted (and observable)
evidence of Rudd already looking more fit for the role, it’s a pretty
safe bet that the actor WILL be signing on the dotted line to play Hank
    Pym.

    He did.

    Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. “The Bridge” (01×10) – Recommended

    Source

    Official Synopsis: In a shocking
cliffhanger episode, Coulson takes the war back to Centipede, and this
time he brings in Mike Peterson for some super-soldier support. As they
get closer to the truth, startling secrets are revealed and an
    unexpected twist threatens the team.

While the episode itself was weak since the fights between super-strong guys should have been more spectacular, it’s great to see Mike Peterson (J. August Richards) back. The real selling point for this episode is the twist ending which perfectly sets up the next episode which answers the question of what happened to Agent Coulson. It’s appropriately titled “It’s a Magical Place.”

Arrow “The Scientist” & “Three Ghosts” (02×7,8) –

Official Synopsis: OLIVER IS VISITED BY GHOSTS FROM THE
PAST — After a fight with Cyrus Gold AKA the Acolyte (guest star Graham
Shiels), Oliver (Stephen Amell) is drugged and left for dead.
Determined to cure him, Felicity (Emily Bett Rickards) makes a risky
decision.  The cure causes Oliver to hallucinate, and what he sees
forces him to confront his past.  Meanwhile, Barry (guest star Grant
Gustin) continues to help Felicity, and their connection grows stronger.
The Arrow asks Lance (Paul Blackthorne) to look into Gold, but when
the stakeout on Gold goes bad, someone is killed.  Roy (Colton Haynes)
is captured and tortured by Brother Blood (guest star Kevin Alejandro).
John Behring directed the episode with story by Greg Berlanti &
Andrew Kresiberg and teleplay by Geoff Johns & Ben
    Sokolowski (#209).

The first appearance of Barry Allen (Grant Gustin) doesn’t fail to disappoint since he’s a fun, young hipster version of Barry Allen. He’s a huge nerd and I love him, so when he gets his series it should be great. The fights are insane as the super-strong Acolyte (which I’m assuming is the show’s version of the zombie Solomon Grundy) pushes Barry to new limits. The flashbacks to the island got more intense as questions are answered and we find out what exactly happened to Shado and Slade Wilson. A island friend’s death is the most shocking part of the whole episode. Brother Blood (Kevin Alejandro) and his serum is terrifying and I hope he doesn’t become mayor because that would be bananas.

Thor: the Dark World (2013) – Recommended

Official Synopsis: “Marvel’s Thor: The Dark World continues the big-screen adventures of Thor, the Mighty Avenger, as he battles to save Earth and all the Nine Realms from a shadowy enemy that predates the universe itself. In the aftermath of Marvel’s Thor and Marvel’s The Avengers, Thor fights to restore order across the cosmos…but an ancient race led by the vengeful Malekith returns to plunge the universe back into darkness. Faced with an enemy that even Odin and Asgard cannot withstand, Thor must embark on his most perilous and personal journey yet, one that will reunite him with Jane Foster and force him to sacrifice everything to save us all.“

This movie is awesome and really takes the character to the next level. It has mind-blowing fights, deep characterization and themes. The acting is brilliant since the characters all have to change based on the things that happened in Thor and The Avengers.

Phoenix would make a good villain. He certainly knows how to do crazy well.
      Like the Firefly warning label!

    2. Pat Dilloway on December 20, 2013 2:29 pm

It's weird it's almost 2014 and they're still casting that Batman/Superman movie. Didn't they already shoot some football scenes? It seems like a really half-baked production so far.

I agree the fights in that SHIELD episode were kind of lame. I suppose after they reveal what happened to Coulson then I can stop watching.

Given Phoenix's history and how playing the Joker destroyed Heath Ledger maybe it's a good idea for him to avoid those roles.

    3. DAVID WALSTON on December 20, 2013 3:06 pm

Batman and Doctor Who two of my favorite things! They just need a Comic Book crossover, and I would die happy!
Arrow "Three Ghosts" had me yelling with joy at the tv till the end, and my wife asking who is that guy.

    4. Tony Laplume on December 20, 2013 3:39 pm

I enjoyed Thor: The Dark World more than the first one. Still haven't gotten around to writing about it, though.

oh the joy if batman had a tardis, it would explain so many things in many of the comic books where he was in different times. great post, thank you for all the info… ya-do!

    6. Maurice Mitchell on December 20, 2013 7:04 pm

It does explain a lot Jeremy.  He's died so many times.

    9. Maurice Mitchell on December 21, 2013 4:51 am

I think so too Alex. Remember when he tricked everyone into thinking he'd left Hollywood to become a rapper? Now that's commitment.

    10. Maurice Mitchell on December 21, 2013 4:53 am

It seems like they're moving very slowly Pat. They know this could make or break the franchise.
