Man of Steel 2 Filming football game at at East Los Angeles College Weingart Stadium |
If you’re looking for footage from the Man of Steel 2
movie here it is. It’s not much to go on, but you get to watch a killer
college football game between Batman’s team (Gotham University Nighthawks)
and Superman’s team (Metropolis University Bulldogs).
Man of Steel is a 2013 Superman reboot film directed by Zack Snyder starring Henry Cavill as Superman and Amy Adams as Lois Lane.
At San Diego Comic-Con, Zack Snyder confirmed that the sequel to Man of Steel,
tentatively released in 2014, will have Superman and Batman meeting for
the first time in a live-action film. David Goyer and Zack Snyder will
write the story together, and Goyer, who wrote Batman Begins and The Dark Knight, is the scriptwriter. The main cast – Cavill, Adams,
Lane, and Fishburne – are all coming back for Man of Steel 2. According to Snyder, the film will take inspiration from the comic The Dark Knight Returns. At the Superman 75th Anniversary Panel at Comic-Con, Goyer said that
Superman and Batman would fight, and it might be named Superman vs Batman or Batman vs Superman
Last weekend, the studio began filming Man of Steel sequel. I already shared the football jerseys from Man of Steel 2 last week. These videos were taken from extras on the set of filming in Los
Angeles at at East Los Angeles College Weingart Stadium. Obviously, this is nothing like what it will look
like in the final film, but it does give us a hint
of the movie’s tone. Watch two set videos and see what you think.
Here’s the video description by SadPuppyProductions: “Day 1 of filming for 2015’s “Batman Vs. Superman”. The scene takes place
at Gotham City University’s Stadium facing off against rivals
Metropolis University. Everyone in the audience was given various Gotham
Football shirts. Some black, some yellow, some T Shirts, some
sweatshirts, etc. Zack Snyder (Watchmen, 300, Man of Steel) was on set,
however the main characters were not there. It was recently announced
that this will be the opening scene of the movie.”
A couple of interesting notes from the video:
- At the Superman 75th Anniversary Panel, David Goyer said they’re thinking about calling Man of Steel 2 Superman vs Batman or Batman vs Superman. The
announcer uses the title “Batman vs. Superman.” The studio hasn’t
confirmed the title, but this is a strong indication. - The team rivalry is as strong as the superhero rivalry. The
announcer says, “The first play, you guys are all really happy about.
The second play is gonna be all at that end, and you’re gonna hate it.” - Gotham is obviously the setting since the Metropolis team is wearing
the away uniform and the crowd is told to root for the Gotham. - Several brawls erupt between the teams and several players are taken off the field for injuries.
Here’s another video by Adam Hlavac and the description:
“Yesterday, director Zack Snyder and crew were on-location at East Los
Angeles College to kick-off some early photography on the ‘Man of Steel’
sequel. None of the main actors were present on-set, but as GCU fans
we were given t-shirts and sweatshirts to rep our home team.”
What do you think of the video? Which team would you root for: Batman or Superman’s? How do you think this scene will fit in with the movie?

Can you imagine trying to coordinate all of that???
Football was an iconic element of The Dark Knight Rises. This only figures.
interesting… very interesting.
It seems to be class warfare. Gotham the blue collar Metropolis the white…then again it is just a football game set in a movie. It will just be a small clip for the trailers.
I really love Henry Cavill, but usually prefer Batman. So I'm quite confused this time.
So our caped crusaders are having a showdown. The question is which one will play Wyatt Earp and Ike Clanton? I'm placing my bets on superman.
