Wow. I don’t know if I can take much more of these surprises. 2015 is going to be the greatest year in the history of Hollywood for geeks. Not only will we get a new Star Wars, and an Avengers sequel, but Zack Snyder made a surprise announcement at San Diego Comic-Con that the long-awaited Superman/Batman team-up movie will be released in 2015. Of course, this is hot off the presses, so we don’t know much, but here’s what we do know.
- Zack Snyder will co-write and direct.
- David Goyer, screenwriter for Man of Steel, will co-write the screenplay.
- The story will be partially inspired by comic book encounters between the heroes like The Dark Knight Returns, but will not be a straight translation.
- Christian Bale will not return as Batman. He’s made that pretty clear.
- Henry Cavill will return as Superman.
- Christopher Nolan will be a producer, but will not be as involved as he was in Man of Steel.
Of course, at this stage, there are more questions than answers. Will Lex Luthor be in the movie? Will the Joker? Who will play Batman? Will Batman’s costume have nipples?
