2. Pacific Rim Review Round-up
Do to a series of unfortunate events I never made it to Pacific Rim, but here are some
great reviews from around the blogosphere.
- Alex
J. Cavanaugh
– “For the ladies, there is a strong female lead. Rinko Kikuchi’s
character is smart and tough…for the guys, this film will bring out
the twelve year old in you!” - Feed
me a Stray Cat – “I’m starting with Pacific Rim (2013) because
I did actually really, really enjoy that film. But…you
know. That was great, but…(under read more for
spoilers)” - Geeky
Nerfherder – “I loved this film for exactly for what it is, a big
dumb rollercoaster blockbuster of a movie, but oh, what a ride it was!” - Melissa’s Imaginarium – “Guillermo Del
Toro delivers a powerful, high octane anime come to life with terrific
characters, a wonderful, yet cheesy script and fx that some of the best
I’ve seen on film.” - Never
Mind Pop Film – “Monster movies like this are seldom seen
anymore, but del Toro’s child-like glee offers a promise to the
audience: you will have a blast.” - PT
Dilloway – “Anyway, forget the lame comedies and superhero movies
and go watch this!” - Tips
from Chip – “The CGI is good, but you don’t get to enjoy it much
since almost all of the major action scenes take place at night and/or
in the rain/water so you can’t see much of what is going on.is this summer’s Battleship – big, loud, incredibly stupid…and
unintentionally funny in so many places that you may still enjoy
yourself.”

io9)
Remember Powdered Toast Man from Ren
& Stimpy? “Cling tenaciously to my buttocks!”
REVIEWS
Sharknado
This movie delivers everything you expect from the title in one
glorious flyng, shark-eating, blood spattering epicly bad film. One
thing about SyFy ChannelAsylum movies is the title comes first and the
script second, so you never know what you’re going to get. This one
delivers exactly what it promises: hundreds of sharks flying around in
massive tornados.
The special effects are horrendous since they made a shark movie on a
budget of
$50. They cut corners at every turn including using CGI rain, so they
wouldn’t have to get water on location. All the shark attacks are
closeup reactions of people screaming at imaginary sharks. The acting
is terrible with the exception of Tara Reid: she’s the worst actor
ever. It’s hard to believe she ever had a career.
If you’re looking for a movie that delivers exactly what it promises –
ridiculous shots of sharks flying through the air eating people – then
you’ve got to watch Sharknado.
And Sharknado 2 coming soon.

And Tara Reid wasn't even naked. I'm not sure if my play-by-play enticed or scared people off from watching Sharknado.
Very excited about Godzilla! Edwards is a great director.
And I have a blogger buddy who is Powdered Toast Man! I need to make sure he sees that.
You suppose Syfy just gathers a bunch of writers in a room TMZ style and has them throw out whatever stupid titles they can come up with and the most insane one ends up as a movie? People who want to complain about Superman Returns or Man of Steel should read some of those rumored Superman reboots, which were on the whole awful ideas.
Thanks for the shout out. Always appreciated.
That Powdered Toast Man is too much. Hahaha
Nice review of Sharknado, but you're not a fan of Tara Reid? But she's great in everything she does (said no one ever). Actually I think SyFy is a good home for her. Misery loves company.
I really hate the design for Electro and hope that's just for the one scene. I had hoped this new Spider-man film would be better than the last, but this is discouraging.
Michael Keaton could always use more love!
I loved Sharknado. they announced a sequel is coming in 2014 – in Manhattan this time. Yay! Although, I think DC would be more fun.
i all ready got yelled at for my thoughts on spiderman 2, so for right now i am keeping my mouth shut… yelled, really threatened.
Great list. If I could pull off Powdered Toast Man I would. Pacific Rim was great, and Godzilla is looking like it will pay homage to the design of the original.
When I first heard of Sharknado I couldn't believe it was an actual film. Sharks and tornadoes. Wow.
Thanks for the links!
It looks like that's his look TS. An EW cover has him in costume
It took a long time for them to get over the stench of Superman IV Pat. Then came Superman Returns.
I think I've seen Powdered Toast Man around. He's more than welcome to pose
It is hard to believe Golden Eagle, but it's real.
It does look very similar to the 1980s version David which is a good thing.
Seeing politicians getting eaten would be a dream come true for some.
He's becoming a forgotten actor Tony, which is a shame.
Jeremy, you can day whatever you want Man. I got your back. Unless you say Spider-Man is stupid. Then I might yell a little.
All I will say about the new Spiderman flix is this I miss the dorky Peter Parker, I'm not too keen on the smooth, confident loner who revels in his outcast role.
And thank , thank you for the AWESOME shout out, I appreciate it very much, my friend. 🙂
