There have been some amazing breakthroughs in the field of nanotechnology. Fabrication with laser printers has traditionally taken hours or days, but a new laser printer has cut the time to mere minutes. It uses a focused laser on a special resin that hardens on contact. By building layer after layer, scientists can create objects on a microscopic scale in minutes. The first application will probably be tiny bio-engineered tools for doctors. For now, we get super-detailed sculptures on a microscopic level like these:
