The New “Running Man” Trailer Is Almost Pure Action

There Is So Much Action In The New "Running Man" Trailer

The new Running Man trailer explodes with nonstop action — high-speed chases, brutal fights, and fiery stunts as Glen Powell battles for survival in Edgar Wright’s thrilling reimagining.

Every time Edgar Wright releases a new film, it’s a big deal. All bets are off when you include Glen Powell in a high-octane Stephen King adaptation, replacing Arnold Schwarzenegger as Ben Richards. Wright, Powell, and co-star Lee Pace appeared on the Empire Stage at New York Comic Con this past weekend to discuss everything related to the new movie and reveal a brand-new trailer, which has finally been released online now that the convention is over.

The Running Man, which was directed by Wright and adapted from a screenplay by Wright and Michael Bacall (who also wrote Scott Pilgrim vs. the World), opens in theatres on November 14. The 1987 Schwarzenegger film is the reason most fans are familiar with the title, but it was based on a much longer 1982 book published under King’s pen name, Richard Bachman. With the title game show taking place all around the planet rather than being restricted to a single arena, this version is more in line with the novel. The new trailer, which you can view below, features a lot of that.

How much action is in this trailer? We’ve got multiple high-speed chase sequences, massive explosions with epic destruction, “hunters” armed with high-powered weapons, and insane heart-stopping stunts.

The Edgar Wright action elements in this trailer are what make this trailer epic. Even though we’ve seen a ton of action films, you can tell when Wright is directing them. You can expect this energetic feeling to pervade the entire film due to the way it flows and is edited together.

Scenes like the fall from the bridge, the grenade fight, and being chased through the streets by murderous assassins.

The Running Man trailer is about 2 minutes and 30 seconds long. But roughly 1 minute and 45 seconds (≈70%) is pure action — chase scenes, explosions, fights, and stunts. What makes this trailer moving is the remaining 45 seconds (≈30%) focus on dialogue, setup, and world-building. We see what makes this guy decide to brave it all for his family and sick daughter.

In short, it’s an action-heavy trailer, emphasizing energy and spectacle over story exposition — very much in Edgar Wright’s fast-cut, rhythmic style.

It also helps that Wright has assembled a fantastic cast to bring The Running Man to life, in addition to Powell and Pace. He has Josh Brolin, Michael Cera, Daniel Ezra, Jayme Lawson, Emilia Jones, William H. Macy, and Colman Domingo as Killian. Who loves you, and who do you love?

    About The Running Man (2025)

Official synopsis: “Set in an oppressive future where the government controls the media, Ben Richards volunteers to participate in a deadly game show, which will see him hunted by professional killers over 30 days. Should he survive, he’ll win a cash prize that will help save his sick child and lift his family out of a horrid living situation.”

    Directed by Edgar Wright

Starring: Glen Powell, Colman Domingo, Josh Brolin, Katy O’Brian, Lee Pace, Emilia Jones, David Zayas, Michael Cera, William H. Macy, Karl Glusman, Sean Hayes, and Jayme Lawson
