    “Wonder Woman 2”: Patty Jenkins Confirms Totally Rad 1980s Setting

    Wonder Woman (2017) Diana Prince (Gal Gadot)

    Patty Jenkins just confirmed the rumor that “Wonder Woman 2” takes place in the 1980s.

    In a video shown at CinemaCon director Patty Jenkins reportedly confirmed that the “Wonder Woman” movie sequel will be a period piece set in the 80s. While she never mentioned plot elements it’s assumed the movie has Diana Prince fighting the Soviet Union. The 1980s were the height of the Cold War and it would fit the theme of her fighting a powerful enemy. In “Wonder Woman” she fought a similar nation at war against the Germans. The Russians are less sympathetic villains than the Nazis but it still works.

    Many hoped that the movies would jump from the WWI setting in the first film to present day but that’s not going to happen. It’s rumored this movie will help explain her disappearance from public sight till modern day when she fights in “Batman v Superman”.

    Jenkins teased that Wonder Woman 2 will have her facing the “temptations of the world” and promised that Diana will be at “the height of powers.”

    Ever since the blockbuster success of Wonder Woman, a sequel is inevitable. Patty Jenkins will also co-write and produce the Wonder Woman 2, from a script by The Expendables co-writer Dave Callaham. The screenplay is based on a treatment by Jenkins and DC President and Chief Creative Officer Geoff Johns.

    Gal Gadot is returning to play the superhero Wonder Woman. The cast includes Kristen Wiig as the villain Cheetah and an image of the cat-like villain appeared on screen as the director said the Amazonian will face “incredible odds”. Chris Pine is rumored to be playing an unnamed role since his character (SPOILERS) dies in the first flick. He’s either coming back to life, playing a ghost or some other character. Shooting starts in May.

    If nothing else expect the clothing, music, and dialogue to be totally awesome.
