Since the eighties, Howard the Duck has been synonymous with failure. Created by George Lucas in 1986, Howard the Duck was one of the first movies based on a Marvel comic, and remains one of the biggest commercial and critical bombs in Hollywood history. Yet the comic book the movie was based on is considered a classic of comedy and satire, and Howard’s fans have long hoped for a do-over.
Since the character made an expected cameo in Guardians of the Galaxy, interest was renewed in Howard, and it looks like he finally has a chance to redeem himself. Marvel announced that Howard the Duck is being developed into a TV series for Hulu as an original animated show for its streaming service.
Kevin Smith (Clerks) is executive producing and developing the series along with Dave Willis (Aqua Teen Hunger Force) and Jeph Loeb. The series, along with other animated shows like Tigra and Dazzler, Hit-Monkey, and M.O.D.O.K., will be a block dubbed “The Offenders,” a parody of Netflix’s “Defenders” series.

Trapped in a world he never made, America’s favorite fighting fowl Howard the Duck hopes to return home with the help of his unstoppable gal pal Beverly before the evil Dr. Bong can turn him the crispiest dish on the menu.
