The Predator has been the antagonist for decades. An unstoppable champion that has our heroes in its sights. However, that changes on November 7th with Predator: Badlands. In addition to being the hero, a predator is not at the top of the food chain for the first time. There are larger, more powerful, and more deadly things.
Dek (Dimitrius Schuster-Koloamatangi), a young Predator in Badlands, must prove himself to his father. He will go to the galaxy’s deadliest planet and target its deadliest beast in order to do this. He will require the assistance of Weyland-Yutani android Thia (Elle Fanning), who eventually loses her legs. Then, as they make their way through the hostile landscape, Dek slings her about like a bag.
All of that and much more can be seen in the most recent trailer for the movie, which Fox just released. Take a look.
There are a few noteworthy aspects about that trailer. First, there is Dek’s humanity. Trachtenberg and the team clearly want you to identify with this character. To make him feel things. Consequently, everything else is going to become more dramatic.
A few key elements emerge from the trailer: the deep emotional connection to the character Dek, highlighted by the creators’ intent for him to resonate with viewers; the variety of impressive creatures inspired by real animals, suggesting more surprises and potential villains; and intriguing hints of additional characters, like Elle Fanning’s role and a green alien companion, sparking curiosity about the unfolding narrative and Dek’s quest.
On November 7, Predator: Badlands will be released. This new poster is also a killer (of killers).
