The new Avatar trailer offers breathtaking visuals, emotional stakes, and an epic return to Pandora. See what James Cameron has in store for the next chapter.
A few months ago, our first look at Avatar: Fire & Ash concentrated largely on the kinds of things that James Cameron’s science fiction series excels at: exquisite celebrations of Pandora’s natural environment. All of it is put in jeopardy in our most recent glimpse, as both new and old foes emerge to not only harass the Sully family but also to threaten to engulf the entire world in a catastrophic new conflict.
Watch the new trailer below:
The most recent trailer for Fire & Ash delves considerably deeper into the plot of Cameron’s third return to the Avatar universe, with many more to follow over the coming years. We learn more about the history of the Mangkwan clan, a mysterious new fire tribe, and its leader Varang (Oona Chaplin). They also discuss why, following a devastating fire that destroyed their lands, they have abandoned the larger Na’vi community. Naturally, their hostility and seclusion push them into the hands of the cunning Quaritch (Stephen Lang), who persuades Varang to wage a full-scale conflict against her fellow Na’vi.
However, this trailer shows much more than just the inter-Na’vi conflict, which again lays the groundwork for a larger conflict between Pandora and Earth. Specifically, Spider (Jack Champion), a young human adoptee, unexpectedly becomes the first human to be able to exist on Pandora without the need for an oxygen mask following a close encounter with the Mangkwan. If the other humans discover that they can breathe in Pandora’s atmosphere without using the Avatar system to transform into Na’vi beings, that rapidly becomes a problem. … any conflict amongst the Na’vi themselves will undoubtedly end swiftly once they recognize the true threat.
All of it implies that there will undoubtedly be a lot of action as the various wars arise, along with a ton of entertaining visuals, such as the Mangkwan’s aerial assault or the Na’vi riding enormous sea animals to attack the human flotilla. If nothing else, you can rely on these movies to be incredibly beautiful and packed with entertaining action!
On October 3, 20th Century Studios will re-release The Way of Water in 3D globally for a one-week limited theatre engagement, before the release of Fire and Ash. Cameron plans for Avatar 4 to be released in 2029 and Avatar 5 to be unveiled in 2031. But for now, have a look at his most recent trailer above.
