Actor
The Book of Boba Fett won’t be getting a second season after all. Over four years after its Disney+ debut, it’s hard to believe in many respects. But is Lucasfilm failing one of its most recognizable characters?
Although it was entertaining to watch Fett’s quest to take over Tatooine’s criminal underworld, the enemies in the show are unremarkable, and the backstory of his return overly softened the character (the less said about that colourful biker gang, the better).
Temuera Morrison hasn’t held back from criticizing his lack of attention when season three of The Mandalorian arrived. He has even claimed that Din Djarin’s (Pedro Pascal) dominance in The Book of Boba Fett contributed to “ruining” the spin-off.
Given that Din and Grogu occupied an entire episode of the show, it’s a harsh but somewhat accurate observation. Fett was mostly overshadowed by both characters and their emotional reunion during the conclusion, but many Star Wars fans were primarily drawn to it.
Having been a part of the “Star Wars” family for over 20 years, Temuera Morrison is urging fans to encourage Disney to bring him back for additional appearances in a galaxy far, far away.
Morrison was asked if he had any upcoming Star Wars projects when he made an appearance at the Tampa Bay Comic Convention this past weekend. “No,” he bluntly replied. “We really have to treasure those moments now. All of you need to send a fax, or a letter or an email to those powers that be at Lucasfilm. I’m sure they’d love to hear from everyone. Please give Daniel Logan and Temuera Morrison another chance and put them somewhere.”
“The crazy part with ‘Star Wars’ is that you don’t know about filming anything until like, a week, or maybe two, or even less than that, right?” Daniel Logan, who played young Boba Fett said. “But the thing is, Temuera is the greediest person in ‘Star Wars.’ He’s played so many characters, he’s got the most characters in ‘Star Wars,’ if you go down the line — from Jango, Boba, all of the Clones, Rex, Cody, Fives — he’s got the most characters in ‘Star Wars.'”
He added, “There’s going to be plenty of opportunities. Especially for this guy, especially with this era of ‘Star Wars,’ like ‘Ahsoka,’ and all this stuff set after ‘Return of the Jedi.'”
We’d be surprised if Dave Filoni didn’t have plans for a live-action Captain Rex in Ahsoka season 2 or his ultimate Star Wars film, even though Morrison’s remarks seem to rule out an appearance in Grogu and The Mandalorian. Fett’s future is still up in the air.
Despite Logan’s mockery, the Boba Fett actor has been benched for the time being, which is as annoying to him as it is to many Star Wars fans. Although Fett is now ruling Tatooine, it might not be a bad idea to return him to his bounty hunting roots if and when he does.
