Emmy 2025: 14 Nominations for “Andor” in a Year With a Lot of Genre Hits

'The Last of Us' and 'The Penguin' performed well, while 'Severance' led all nominees.

It turns out that television is quite geeky. Severance led all nominees with 27 total, followed by HBO’s The Penguin in second place with 24, The Last of Us in fifth place with 16, and Andor in sixth place with 14, including “Outstanding Drama Series.” That appeared to be the main takeaway from Tuesday’s announcement of the 77th annual Emmy Award nominations.

Black Mirror, Dune: Prophecy, House of the Dragon, Invincible, Paradise, Poker Face, What If, The Acolyte, Agatha All Along, The Boys, Cobra Kai, and What We Do in the Shadows were among the other genre shows that received at least one nomination. Harrison Ford, who played Han Solo in Star Wars, was also nominated for an Emmy for the first time. That’s thanks to the Apple TV+ series Shrinking,

What honours did Andor receive, then? Well, they are primarily technical, except the largest one. The list is as follows:

    • Outstanding Production Design for a Narrative Period or Fantasy Program (One Hour or More)
    • Outstanding Cinematography for a Series (One Hour)
    • Outstanding Fantasy/sci-fi Costumes
    • Outstanding Directing for a Drama Series
    • Outstanding Picture Editing for a Drama Series
    • Outstanding Music Composition for a Series (Original Dramatic Score)
    • Outstanding Original Music and Lyrics

    • Outstanding Character Voice-over Performance
    • Outstanding Drama Series
    • Outstanding Sound Editing for a Comedy or Drama Series (One Hour)
    • Outstanding Sound Mixing for a Comedy or Drama Series (One Hour)
    • Outstanding Special Visual Effects in a Season or a Movie
    • Outstanding Writing for a Drama Series

Alan Tudyk provided the voiceover, and Forest Whitaker was cast as Saw Gerrera, earning him the guest actor role. That implies that just the Oscar winner received an Emmy nomination out of all the amazing performers who feature on the show, even if there were a very lovely 14 nominations.
