Recap Murderbot (2025): S1E03 – “Risk Assessment”
Due to its programming, Murderbot struggles with maintaining eye contact and answering direct questions. It is beset by noble-minded explorers who ask about its feelings and invite it to chat. The Paranoid Android is also concerned about humans and their “pheromones” and the group’s throuple: Ratthi, Arada, and Pin-Lee. It is aghast to discover Dr. Gurathin snooping around Dr. Mensah’s room. He’s even more aghast to find out the guy’s weeping while sniffing their pillows.
The Preservation Alliance’s mission is to prove they can survive without abandoning their mission or losing anyone. However, the expedition is a prime target for Company mischief, as Murderbot accidentally reveals he is spying on their activities for the Company. The team also faces questions about faulty equipment, bad maps, and the slaughter of the other team.
Mensah mentions that some colleagues in the Alliance believe the Company is right and that merging with a corporation is their only hope for survival. If they share these feelings, will they act on them to endanger their teammates or the terminator guarding them?
Overall: Watch Murderbot (2025): S1E03 – “Risk Assessment”
In Murderbot season 1, episode 3, it/he discovers SecUnits have been hacked and engages in a thrilling fight. The fight showcases Alexander Skarsgård’s action skills and Murderbot’s potential for future longer fights.
Murderbot is a captivating show that explores the human-like behavior of a robot, despite its seemingly cynical nature. The show’s protagonist is portrayed as checked out and invested in its actions, allowing viewers to see and feel its lies. Despite being a bit jokey in some parts, the show’s central performances and exploration of deeper themes make it a worthwhile watch. The fight scene alone is a winner.
