Sonic the Hedgehog 3 (2024) will have Shadow voiced by Keanu Reeves, the hero of the John Wick series, and many more of our favorite films. In addition, Keanu is a writer for comic books, a musician, and a meme inspiration living his best life.
There has been much speculation regarding the casting of the highly anticipated character in the most recent installment of the well-liked video game-adapted series, and now the Hollywood Reporter has confirmed that Reeves will play the role, citing “multiple sources” (with a nod to the John Campea Show). The character was hinted at in Sonic the Hedgehog 2’s mid-credits, and the film, which is scheduled for release on December 20, will take place following the events of Sonic 2 and the forthcoming Knuckles spin-off series for Paramount+, which debuts on streaming services next week on April 26.
According to THR, more information about the threequel was revealed during Paramount’s presentation at CinemaCon last week. According to the source, Jim Carrey’s character Dr. Robotnik was depicted as unhappy and physically unfit after the events of Sonic 2. However, he regains his confidence by creating a new character named Shadow the Hedgehog, introduced in the video game Sonic Adventure 2 in 2001. Shadow has similar abilities to Sonic but is portrayed as a darker and edgier character.

In addition to Jim Carrey reprising his role as Dr. Robotnik, Sonic (Ben Schwartz), Knuckles (Idris Elba), and Tails (Colleen O’Shaughnessey) will all be back in Sonic the Hedgehog 3. James Marsden and Tika Sumpter will play Sonic’s adoptive parents.
Are you looking forward to Shadow and the next Sonic the Hedgehog movie? Is Reeves the perfect choice or would you have cast someone else?
