Patty Jenkins Wants Kristen Wiig to Play Cheetah and the Internet is Outraged

    Kristin Wiig at Ghostbusters premiere

Comedian Kristen Wiig could become the next Wonder Woman villain.
Yesterday Deadline reported that Kristin Wiig is the studio’s top choice to play the villain in the “Wonder Woman” sequel starring Gal Gadot. Warner Bros. had no comment on the potential casting.

Patty Jenkins lobbied hard to cast Wiig as the villain. According to Variety’s Justin Kroll, the studio offered the part to Emma Stone but she passed. Jenkins personally picked Wiig for the role. We don’t know if Wiig is on board. But meetings between her and top executives at Warner Bros have been happening.

Kristen Wiig is best known for her run on “Saturday Night Live” and comedic films like the Ghostbusters reboot and “Bridesmaids”. But she received high praise for the comedy-drama “The Skeleton Key” (2014).

BossLogic made up a wonderful mockup of what she would look like in makeup.

For the record, no Cheetah is not African or black. She was created by William Moulton Marston and first appeared in Wonder Woman #6 (1943) as a rich socialite who had a Dissociative Identity Disorder (split personality) of a thief. She didn’t have any superpowers but became a powerful villain thanks to her keen mind.

There have been four different people that have become the villain named Cheetah besides Priscilla Rich. Deborah Domaine, Barbara Ann Minerva and a man named Sebastian Ballesteros have all become The Cheetah. Back in 2009, Cheetah was ranked 69th of the Greatest Comic Book Villain of All Time by IGN.

While some are putting their trust in Patty Jenkins a lot of people are absolutely going insane over the news. On one hand, people point to what Patty Jenkins did with the beautiful Charlize Theron in “Monster”. On the other hand, it’s hard to ignore Wiig’s goofy comedic side.

Tbh she should just stick to comedy. I literally can’t take her seriously

Director Patty Jenkins and star Gal Gadot will return for the Wonder Woman sequel. Warners Bros and DC Entertainment are keeping a tight lid on plot details, but rumors have been flying that it will be set in the 1980s during the Cold War. Wonder Woman 2 is set for a November 2019 release.

We’ll have to wait and see but surprising casting has worked out many times. Heath Ledger for The Joker worked out great and Ben Affleck and Michael Keaton have done a great Batman.

    It could work.

What do you think of the casting?
