Do you want to watch The Empire Strikes Back, but don’t have 124 minutes to spare? If you’re one of those who complains about George Lucas releasing different versions of the movie, you might be surprised to find out he’s been doing this since the beginning. Case in point, in 1981, Lucasfilm released a Super 8mm version of The Empire Strikes Back. Because of the limitations of the medium, there were two parts, each only fifteen minutes long. It does a surprisingly good job of hitting the highlights. Watch part two below, and be glad this didn’t become the official version.
