While Star Trek‘s Federation is often described as an organization of peace, they had some pretty hardcore weapons. The good old phasers came in a variety of shapes and sizes, from handheld pistol to full assault rifles, and became more sophisticated over time. Usually these are pretty awesome, but I think this one was a little too cramped in its design, especially with not especially dynamic images filling it.
Ergonomically I like the ones with the curved handles.
I remember the first couple years of Next Gen they had the big phasers and then those little itty bitty ones that it seems like they got away from. But I like the ones from the first six movies. They looked more gun-like whereas the Next Gen ones looked more like a computer mouse or something.
Wow, I guess I've never really paid attention to the phasers. In my head, they're all small. Now I need to pay attention as we introduce the kids to Star Trek.
I favor the smaller designs, maybe because I like to keep things simple.
