X-Men: Days of Future Past (2014) – Nicholas Hoult, James McAvoy, Hugh Jackman |
Movie Race: What movie will win the box office in May 2014?
This month I’m starting a new feature called “Box Office Race.” The
idea is simple. Pick which movie you think will win the box office race
in May. The movie with the total US box office gross wins the race. The
person that gets closest to the winner wins the month.
Here are the five genre movies this month:
- May 2nd: The Amazing Spider-Man 2
- May 9th:Legends of Oz: Dorothy’s Return
- May 16th: Godzilla
- May 23rd: X-Men Days of Future Past
- May 30th: Maleficent
Please post a picture or video clip of the movie that you think will win the box office and why. The winner will be announced June 5, 2014 in next month’s movie race..
Come back next week for the bi-weekly caption contest and comes back in two weeks for the next poll.
If you have an idea for a poll send it to us using our contact form or email us at geektwins (at) gmail.com!

No clip, but my bets are on Godzilla.
I'm going with Spider-Man because it's first up. That means it doesn't really have to share the box office. And looking back the last two years the top grossing movie was the Marvel movie in the first week of May, so there you go. No wonder Marvel and WB/DC are fighting over that slot in 2016.
Godzilla…I will see it at least twice this month that must count for something.
My money is on X-Men. Wolverine is a huge draw and his fan base will come in force.
I picked X-Men. An event this ginormous should hopefully interest even skeptics of these particular Marvel flicks.
i have no… no interested in the others, but i give an "x"… for x-men
Spider-Man — is wager it'll make $250 mil before it's done. I'm more excited about Godzilla myself, but its not a proven blockbuster, all the Spide films have been hits.
And X-Men might do well, but it will make at least some of its money in June (and Malificent will make MOST of its money then).
