“Bigger eyes. Gnarly web shooters.” that’s how director Marc Webb described the new costume for The Amazing Spider-Man 2 and we finally have enough information to see he’s right.

We finally have a few looks at the new costume. Thanks to Superhero Hype we have our first official look at the new Spider-Man costume. Plus, some behind the scenes images of the new Amazing Spider-Man 2 costume from NY Daily News give us more information on the drastic changes to the costume.
Thank goodness. While the last costume was exciting and original, I never liked it.

Ultimate Spider-Man
The costume feels a lot like the Ultimate Spider-Man design. Marvel’s been dipping into the Ultimate series for their movies since Thor, and it looks like Spider-Man is moving in that direction as well. Comic book artist Mark Bagley did an amazing job redesigning the costume and the movie has taken a few cues from it. Most notably, the enlarged eyes.

Spider-Man has always had a distinctive set of eyes and these are as close to the comic books as we’re ever going to get. That’s why Marvel used his mask as their logo. This costume is the closest to the comic books
Fabric – Basketball Skin Is Gone

The last costume had a weird sort of basketball leather pattern on it, but it’s gone now. The production team for The Amazing Spider-Man developed the texture partly because of 3D. Kym Barrett “We found that we could print shadows on the fabric of the suit, and that gives the suit real density and depth on the screen.” This time the costume has a more subtle texture similar to the Sam Raimi costume.

The Amazing Spider-Man had a very aggressive and unique looking spider logo, but the new one is more traditional. In the first film, costume designer Kym Barrett said, “We wanted a design that would make the body longer and more lithe, someone incredibly agile; the legs of the spider-symbol on the chest were used to emphasize that.” It was very non-traditional. Apparently they’ve decided to keep it closer to the comic books.
Web-Shooters
In the comic books, Peter Parker invents web-shooters to go with his Spider-Man costume. Sam Raimi got rid of them because he thought it was unrealistic to have a high-school kid build them.
We know Marc Webb went through a lot to design the mechanical web-shooters going so far as talking with creator Stan Lee for advice. “I had a meeting with Stan Lee and we talked about the web-shooters,” Webb said. “I was curious about the incarnation of them [because] of course in the previous films [they went away from them] and we wanted to reestablish ourselves. That was one thing but the other thing was the fact that the web-shooters were able to dramatize Peter’s intellect and I thought that was really cool. … It was in the comics and we have a different design but it’s a cool element to have. It’s not something we over-use or over-exploit. To me, it’s something I remember from when I was a kid and thinking ‘It would be cool if I could build those.’” The ones from the first movie were designed to look like a watch. We know the mechanical web-shooters are back, but what does he mean by “Gnarly”? Expect another drastic change.

New York, February 5, 2013 – Columbia Pictures announced today that filming has begun on The Amazing Spider-Man™ 2 in New York. The film is the first in the history of the franchise that will be filmed entirely in New York City and New York State.
The sequel to last year’s critical and box office hit “The Amazing Spider-Man,” the film stars Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone, Jamie Foxx, Shailene Woodley, Dane DeHaan, Colm Feore, Paul Giamatti and Sally Field.
In “The Amazing Spider-Man 2,” for Peter Parker (Andrew Garfield), life is busy — between taking out the bad guys as Spider-Man and spending time with the person he loves, Gwen (Emma Stone), high school graduation can’t come quickly enough. Peter hasn’t forgotten about the promise he made to Gwen’s father to protect her by staying away — but that’s a promise he just can’t keep. Things will change for Peter when a new villain, Electro (Jamie Foxx), emerges, an old friend, Harry Osborn (Dane DeHaan), returns, and Peter uncovers new clues about his past.
The film is directed by Marc Webb from a screenplay by Alex Kurtzman & Roberto Orci & Jeff Pinkner, with a previous draft by James Vanderbilt, and based on the Marvel Comic Book by Stan Lee and Steve Ditko. Avi Arad and Matt Tolmach are the producers.
The film’s key behind-the-scenes team includes director of photography Dan Mindel, production designer Mark Friedberg, editors Pietro Scalia and Elliot Graham and costume designer Deborah L. Scott.
The latest chapter in the Spider-Man story is set for release in 3D on May 2, 2014.

Like the bigger eyes. Didn't mind the last costume though.
My question is always how does a poor high school/college student afford this stuff? He's not Bruce Wayne or Tony Stark with a whole company's resources he can use and he's not getting any help from the military or his alien daddy either.
This movie will be amazing because its got treks story writers onboard. Its great knowing Spideys going places. Action is his reward, where ever theres a bang up, you'll find the spiderman!
why does he need shoes?

Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman do great work Spacerguy.
The costumes a stretch, but they did a good job explaining the webbing Pat. He got it from the lab. As for the stretch fabric and mask that woulda set him back a fortune.

Like Chris Nolan making a crappy badly plotted idiotic movie of "The Dark Knight Rises", I also won't be following the works of Chris Nolan anymore or anything that Marc Webb, scrapes from his toilet plunger of "ideas" for further ruining a Superhero Movie Concept.
